Just when you think you’ve seen it all, Sevco blows your mind.

Again.

The knack they have for this is amazing.

They just never get it right.

Even when the news should be good for their fans it carries a taint.

This is a beauty.

On the day Craig Whyte is found Not Guilty in his fraud case, Sevco has put one of the men who destroyed Rangers on their board.

On the day a jury decides that those who were at Ibrox at the time were woefully bad at their jobs, Sevco has given one of them a seat around the top table.

Yes, Alastair “No Surrender” Johnson is back. With perfect timing.

Sevco fans should be in no doubt whatsoever what the role Johnson played in the collapse of their former club was, especially whilst he was chairman. During this trial it was all made very clear. He sat on the board that refused to even prepare for the Big Tax Case. At one point, Findlay said he had been running the club “on a fantasy basis”, which to me is perfect preparation for a seat on the current board as everyone there is doing the same.

There was even a period where he held the bank accountable for the state of the club, because it loaned them the money.

His attitude, according to Findlay, was pretty much “Borrow more money, spend more money,” and all the while blaming the bank for the colossal mess he was making.

Back in 2012, he predicted that members of the board would demonstrate “selective amnesia” over the issue of EBT’s if called upon to talk to Lord Nimmo Smith. A guy with that particular trait, and that mind-set, is a perfect director to serve on Dave King’s board.

This guy is a discredited muppet.

This trial destroyed his credibility.

A jury took half an afternoon to suss that out, and now here he is, back at Ibrox again. Watch how the media spins it too; I’ll bet a mere handful of the press mention this case or the way he was exposed during it, although it should be the first thing every single outlet writes.

On top of that, it’s pretty clear that Sevco timed this appointment for the day the jury went out … it’s equally clear they didn’t, for one second, expect the verdict to make Johnson out to be a liar and a joke. Which means the joke ultimately falls on them.
