The Ulster Unionists Are “Sickened” By Last Night’s Banners? Give Us Peace FFS.

I can take UEFA handing out sanctions for the banner last night.

It was a certainty.

Celtic have just commented on that; they clearly think the Green Brigade crossed their own line as regards the rules of the house. Everyone here knows what’s what, there are no idiots amongst us. The fine was coming as sure as night followed day.

I disagree with UEFA by the way.

They called it an “illicit” banner, a catch-all that frankly means nothing and could be taken to include everything. That banner was only “illicit” within the atrociously flexible Offensive Behaviour at Football Act; nowhere else but Scotland would it be considered anything remotely criminal.

We’ll see what Celtic’s next response is.

I can take the media slabbering over it.

They are absolute toe-rags and so I don’t particularly care how they view it. Theirs is the worst kind of “offended”, the mock put on you always get from them when the issue is a chickenshit one. You never hear these people when heavy stuff is going down, where there’s real stuff going on.

I can take the Celtic fans who aren’t happy.

Some of them worry too much what our enemies think, that’s my personal opinion, but I can take their unhappiness. They are entitled to have their say, even those who want to decide what other views other Celtic fans are permitted to express. They want to think through that argument a wee bit, but I can take it.

I can take the hypocritical moralising of the Sevco support.

I can take what others in Scottish football who are too pig ignorant to look past The Green Brigade to the club as a whole and who are saying this is why they “won’t get involved” with the title stripping campaign; you lot deserve everything you get. This “two sides of the same coin” cobblers is what keeps your club in its box. It doesn’t affect mine in any way, shape or form. So either help those of us who want to change things or piss off, but don’t look for excuses for sitting on the fence.

Whatever you decide, I can take that.

But condemnation from the Ulster Unionist Party?

For flying IRA banners, which, actually the Green Brigade never did?

I’m not taking that. None of us should.

Not from them. Not from panderers and bigots and apologists for real sectarian murder gangs.

Talk about playing to the gallery; they’ve just been battered in the elections and seen the DUP run away with the glory. So I understand why they are clambering onto the nearest bandwagon. But it’s pathetic. And it’s more than my stomach can handle today.

Don’t they have their own issues to deal with? The Stormont Assembly has to be put back on rails. There’s an economic downturn. There’s Brexit and what it means to the border over there. And this has engaged the Brains Trust of the party? This?

This is where my tolerance for criticism snaps.

Gies peace. Seriously.

Piss off, the lot of you.
