Was TalkSport Always A Repository For Arrogant English Clowns Or Is It A New Thing?

Today Perry Groves, who played for Arsenal in case you had no idea at all who the guy was, became the latest in a long line of arrogant English sods who decided to offer his “opinion” – ignorant, devoid of respect, without a clue at all as to what he’s talking about at all. It is typical of the people on that show, and of a certain type of commentator down there; they can’t see past their own league, their own country, their own insanity.

And it’s insanity. There’s no doubt about that at all.

What else do you can call it when a second-rate footballer like Kyle Walker has just gone to Manchester City for £50 million?

It makes the money clubs down there are talking about offering for Tierney look like just what it is; an egregious insult, motivated by the ludicrous belief that we’re a backwater here.

Groves thinks we’re a “top six Championship team” at best.

Amazingly stupid remarks.

The EPL itself is full of clubs who would be regarded as little more than third rate; no wonder Sky is considering its options and getting ready to change the business model. Really, who the Hell wants to watch Brighton v Bournemouth? A few years ago that would have been the “battle of the shit sea-side towns no-one outside of them gave a toss about”. Now Murdoch’s behemoth has to try and put glitter on that turd and many others. I don’t envy them.

In the meantime they snipe. At Scotland. Which this past week, actually, is hard to argue against with the scandalous European performances of our so-called “top clubs”. They were disgraceful, there’s really no other word for it. Thank God Celtic no longer relies on these teams for our co-efficient. Not a single one of them has done us any credit, although I still suspect Aberdeen will have too much in the second leg and go through.

None of that applies to Celtic; we’re a huge club by anybody’s standards, except those EPL obsessed hacks who think money is what makes you one of those. Hull City might be able to splash out ridiculous sums of money on footballers no-one’s ever heard of but a big club they ain’t and they never will be. Celtic are.

These guys take their pot-shots, but the reason we don’t get invited to their league is nothing to do with us having little to offer. The problem is that we’d have too much to offer. Can you imagine a club our size with access to their stupid money?

Can you imagine how big we would be?

They can, and they live in perpetual dread of it.

A European league may or may not be coming; if it is then I’ll tell you what, there will be a handful of teams from the so-called Biggest League in the World in it. There will be no place for the Hull’s and West Brom’s and Brighton’s. Celtic will be there.

I hate slagging those clubs because they have fans who are passionate about their club as we are passionate about ours, but I really wouldn’t have to if people like Groves weren’t determined to show off their witlessness.

Groves’ problem might just be simple jealousy; his team was the last club on this island to finish a league campaign unbeaten.

They didn’t do the domestic clean sweep though. Middlesbrough knocked them out of the League Cup and Manchester United knocked them out in the FA Cup. I’m not disparaging what they accomplished in the league … I’m saying they fell short of what we just did. As it turns out, they played us before that season started, in a friendly.

We secured a 1-1 draw. Not bad at all.

Groves will say it’s no achievement to go unbeaten against the likes of St Johnstone and the like. Perhaps it’s also no great achievement when the teams against you include Portsmouth, Fulham, Wolves, Charlton, Bolton and Blackburn. They were all EPL teams at the time.

But see, I know how ridiculous that argument is.

His own is no less stupid.

I am simply tired of having to respond to these goons and their nonsense.
