It was Richard Ashcroft who wrote that “the drugs don’t work.” Holy Hell. I can only assume that he was never subjected to the Scottish media, because if there’s one thing they’ve proved over and over and over again it’s that the drugs do work, and they most certainly don’t make things worse.

I can prove that.

There has not been a riot at Hampden that turfed our corrupt executives out on their fat arses and burned the place to the ground.

That suggests that at least some of our own fans are taking heavy uppers to get through the day, or that opium use is more widespread than we were aware.

People who read the Scottish media on a regular basis are most definitely “on something.” If the makers of the old “purple tin” were able to track customers, I suspect the sales-map would overlap perfectly with the one for people who still read The Daily Record.

The latest proof that drugs do work has come from Ibrox.

Why am I picturing people reading this and saying “Surprise me some more, James.”?

Yes, it’s Josh Windass. Remember Josh Windass?

He’s the guy I wrote about last month when the media was trying to flog him for pennies, after he’d arrived at Ibrox under Warburton in a blaze of ludicrous publicly which, amongst other things, had suggested the club had snapped him up under the noses of Arsenal.

Yes, that’s Premier League Arsenal.

Managed by Arsene Wegner.

Last month’s story on this was actually widely read on Arsenal sites … they found it hilarious, not a one of them having ever heard of Josh Windass.

Today he is, once again, a player the press is talking about. A good performance in a friendly match against Sheffield Wednesday and he is back to being a footballer with something to offer. It is just a coincidence that the clubs which were interested a few weeks ago no longer are. It is also a coincidence that moves for Aberdeen’s Kenny McLean and others have come to nothing, with nothing being exactly what Sevco can offer up-front to sign them.

Windass is gushing about how good life is at Ibrox.

He said it is the club that would be his number one choice unless the other options were Real Madrid and Manchester United. Sorry, Arsenal fans. I know he was never really on your list of options, not even that 50,000 long one which I assume explains signings such as Philip Senderos and Francis Jeffers, (Guess what both of those jokers had in common, other than Arsenal? Haha) but he would have snubbed you anyway.

He is seriously on something, or he thinks every single one of us are. He would have gone to Scunthorpe last month, gladly, happily, and would have pronounced it a good move for his career, and the club would have taken their money without even bothering to count it.

Yet here we are, being subjected to utter garbage about how both parties couldn’t be happier and the media telling us again what a top footballer he is.

Give us a break.

It’s pathetic.

More opium anybody?

On second thoughts, who has the uppers today?
