Today from Celtic Park, some unexpected, and brilliant news.
Scott Brown, as expected, has put pen to paper on a brand new deal. Excellent in itself, but here’s the biggie … Jozo Simunovic, who has been linked with moves away from the club, has committed his long term future to Celtic for the next four years, with a bumper new contract.
Fantastic. I could not be happier with that outcome.
With everything that is going on in Scottish football right now, we remain focussed and determined and concentrated on what happens on the pitch; it is to the immeasurable credit of Peter Lawwell and the Celtic board that they continue to get on with their day jobs even with all this extraneous stuff, and a relentless media campaign against them.
This is a great time to be a Celtic fan.
Two of our best players have chosen to fight the good fight as we chase seven in a row and stand on the brink of our great European adventure for this season. They follow Stuart Armstrong’s new deal and the securing of Roberts and others in the window.
It is great on a day like this to be able to write such a positive story about the football side of Celtic. We played scintillating football on Friday night – it was a joy just to watch it – and all of us are looking forward to tomorrow, with some excited nerves … this today is just what we needed.
Congrats to Jozo and Broony on their new deals, and to the Celtic board that got them done.
Onward, and upwards Bhoys and Ghirls.
