Sevco’s rabid media office has released one of its inexcusable paranoid rants tonight, claiming to be in relation to the SFA’s decision to offer Bruno Alves a two match ban for his vicious kick-out at a Motherwell player during Sunday’s game.

In point of fact this is a screed which has but one purpose, the same purpose as other gutter level releases has had in the past; it is an effort to blow smoke after a catastrophic defeat, to pander to their own lunatic fringe and keep online a support which is rapidly running out of patience not only with the manager but with the incompetents in the board room who appointed him and then funded his summer of failure.

Sevco is a basket-case club which poses a major threat to the general wellbeing of Scottish football as a whole.

Their rhetoric in statements such as this is poisonous, and perhaps even dangerous.

The SFA has allowed this to continue; tonight that they are the targets of it, and that ought to give them some pause. As this club continues to spiral down the drain setbacks like that which they suffered at the weekend will continue to happen. If this is how they intend to respond to them – and this is no different than the foaming statements they’ve released in the past – then the SFA will have to confront this club and deal with it directly.

These types of statements bring the game into disrepute. They are the mark of an obsession with outside enemies which runs rampant inside the walls of Ibrox and is far and away the most destabilising and incendiary element in our game today.

The club is accusing the SFA of bias tonight; we have made that accusation many times, but with weight of evidence. We have asked for an inquiry into SFA policies and the decision making process. If Sevco is now joining us in that call we look forward to them doing so in a less unhinged fashion, and to hearing what they have to say when they do so soberly and calmly. Neither calm nor sobriety is much in evidence with this press release tonight.

Looking at it in that fashion, their statement is inflammatory nonsense, designed to blame other people for the spectacular failings inside their own walls.

The statement is correct in one sense; Sevco is assessed in a different way to other clubs here, but they cannot blame others for that; they continually act in a way that no rational club would. No other club conducts itself in such a bizarre, even deranged, fashion.

Frankly, no other club would be allowed to. The longer it is allowed to get away with it, the more legitimate questions will be asked about what the SFA fears so much about the current incumbents at Sevco and the people who represent them.

The time to act was long ago, but surely now the time for it has come.
