Our favourite nut-jar has tipped over again and the nuts are pouring out. Ibrox Noise, a vintage Sevco site of single-minded madness, has today attacked a former BT Sport journalist, Derek Rae, for describing their club as “a mess” and suggesting that Derek McInnes would be insane to go near it.

This is not revolutionary thinking. McInnes said as much yesterday at his press conference, when he said that a manager has to decide how well a club is run before he makes a move there … Rae is simply echoing what is accepted wisdom in this case.

Their club is looking for its third manager in seven months. Their chairman is under indictment. They are skint, living a hand to mouth existence, they have John Brown on the scouting staff and someone inside their walls approved making Carlos Pena one of the highest paid footballers in the land.

There are stronger ways to describe than that “a mess.”

Describing Rae as “formerly highly-respected and balanced” – until today presumably – their unhinged site accuses him of a “desire to smite Rangers” and suggested that he has finally shown his “true colours” in having a go at them in such a manner.

“The problem with Rangers is that they are an absolute mess,” Rae is supposed to have said, and whilst I’d take issue and suggest that the greater problem is that they are absolutely dead, I do agree with the central thrust of his piece as it regards Sevco … and what he said next echoes almost exactly what McInnes himself said just the other day.

““Jurgen Klopp once said in a highly-respected German film called Trainer ‘If you go into a club and the board is bad and dysfunctional, as a manager you have no chance.’ I don’t think Derek will be stupid about this …”

Which, as this site has pointed out, he’d have to be to dip a toe in the poisoned waters of Ibrox.

This is something other managers know too, which is why only those currently without work are even remotely considering it. For all that, the Ibrox Noise website is very unhappy about this hyper-accurate summary of where things stand.

This is another example of them inventing enemies on the day when they’ve accused us of inventing friends. As I asked in the previous piece, you tell me which is worse? Even if JPT had manufactured that email, it’s better to be surrounded by love than hate.

They are definitely happier wallowing in the latter.
