Well that was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Why are we reserving our best form right now for away games? Why do I care? We turn up for business and do this, who can complain? That was exceptional today, at a ground where the media was expecting us maybe to slip up. No chance at all.

Not a player was off-form although in the early stages there were some lazy passes. The overall display was beyond impressive. Dembele has gotten back to sharpness remarkably quickly, Sinclair got his first goal in eight games (has to be a record for him not scoring) and Oliver came on and scored a nice one at the end of a wonderful move.

Towards the end there we looked unplayable. That annoying little toe-rag Walker lamented how “poor” St Johnstone were just before we got the fourth, but his hurting aside everyone watching must have seen how top drawer that display was.

And it was a record breaker, of course.

This team is, as Brendan said, rewriting history as it goes now. This is a British record, we’re still some ways from setting a European or world one, but there’s little in our way at the moment from achieving anything we set our minds to domestically. When two of the best teams in the country take us on at home and we win so comfortably, on the back of securing a cup final place by beating another of them, it makes you wonder who can stop us. The bookies clearly think so looking at the latest Scottish Championship betting odds at William Hill.

The Celtic machine has never been running more smoothly. There was no point in that game where we looked in even the slightest trouble. The possession stats, shots on target, everything was spot on, and spoke to the high level of our performance. That last goal was a thing of sheer beauty, the kind of football fans pay good money to watch.

Our formation was interchangeable too today, did you notice that? When they had the ball we were playing a flat back four with Brown prowling just in front of the defence. When we had possession, Lustig moved inside to cover as an extra central defender whilst Kieran bombed up the left side, which allowed Scott Sinclair to play more centrally.

He gave them nightmares and still managed a goal. Moussa terrorised them too, and his football for his own was absolutely superb; he starts the move on just about the half way line and manages to be in the box to get on the end of the cross. Sheer class.

The record we broke today was our own, of course, and it has lasted 100 years. It’s all in front of us at the moment, even the possibility of going another domestic campaign unbeaten; I can’t really imagine that’ll happen, but this time last year the possibility of doing it once seemed just as unlikely. Who knows with this side?

Today was another Good Day. The pressure is on our “rivals” to match us, as shown when you view all Scottish Championship betting odds at William Hill

No matter. On our day we’ll beat anyone, comfortably.
