Celtic lost their unbeaten record on the weekend as they were thumped 4-0 by a rampant Hearts at Tynecastle.

The result leaves Brendan Rodgers’ side still at the top of the SPFL table, but the gap between them and second placed Aberdeen has decreased.

Rodgers’ side has amassed 41 points from 18 league games this season, whilst Aberdeen sit two points below them having accumulated 39 points.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, Rodgers will have one eye on on players he’d like to bring in.

Also, looking longer term, the 2018 World Cup kicks off in Russia in the summer, and there’ll be players there who could be perfect signings for Celtic.

There are an array of teams who’ll be in contention to win the coveted tournament, and Celtic fans will be able to watch a number of their stars in action in Russia.

Many Celtic fans will undoubtedly place accumulators and bets throughout the course of the tournament, and we at The Celtic Blog fancy Dedryck Boyata’s Belgium to do the business.

Here are TWO players who’ll feature in the 2018 World Cup that Celtic should keep tabs on….

Michael Murillo (Panama)

The talented right-back plies his trade for New York Red Bulls, and has been an influential member of the side since joining from San Francisco FC.

Murillo is only 21, and should definitely be on the radar of Rodgers.

Certainly worth a punt.

Sardar Azmoun (Iran)

Azmoun is prolific – scoring 22 goals in 30 games for his country.

The attacker is only 22, and has the potential to become a top star.

Azmoun plies his trade in the Russian League, and has not been as clinical as he is for Iran.

Rodgers could get the best out of him at Celtic – worth a look!
