Tonight, on Newsnow, there’s a story about Moussa Dembele “admitting” that he might leave Celtic in January.
It originates at The Daily Record.
Funny that the novelty bog roll paper is the only one reporting such a thing.
The story is clear-cut nonsense; those who’s seen it say that The Record has put words in his mouth and twisted those he did say to create a wholly false impression.
Here’s the thing; the story itself is no longer online although the headline is. That tells me that someone at The Record went too far. The story has been pulled. It is nowhere to be found on their website. All trace of it has been removed.
Why did this happen? The bloggers didn’t touch this one. It is too rancid even to get a response. What happened to it? Did someone at Celtic – or Moussa himself – object to it?
Either way, it’s gone, leaving only the headline: Moussa Dembele Admits For First Time He Could Leave In January.
The Daily Record is a disgrace. Not one other outlet is going near this story; if Dembele had said anything remotely like that every other paper would be running it. The Scotsman does a regular “gossip” column, linking to all manner of trash from around the MSM … they haven’t even bothered with this one.
Because it wasn’t gossip.
It was lies.
And their removal of, and deletion of, the story confirms it.
This is not saying Dembele won’t be leaving but certainly not in January. When the big boys come for him in the summer I am pretty sure Celtic may be powerless in their bid to keep him but I just can’t see he leaving us in January.
Who are the clubs likely to sign him?
He has been linked with a move to Chelsea a couple of times and I think the blues have a strong chance of getting in the summer. He will be a good competition / back up to Morata.
Tottenham are another club I think have a strong chance of signing him and they also have been linked with his signing in recent time. I personally won’t be surprised if Real Madrid sign Harry Kane in the summer as a replacement for Benzema who I think Madrid will need to replace in the summer. Dembele will be a good replacement for the Englishman.
