Charley Musonda has landed in Glasgow, and looks certain to sign on the dotted line in time to play tomorrow night’s game against Hearts. This is the lift the whole club needed, a top drawer footballer who will add some real creativity to a team which needs a spark.

It’s fair to say there’s a little gloom having over the place right now. The injury to Gordon has shocked fans, staff and players alike. He is a big personality at our club and I think we all hoped that injury wasn’t going to be serious. It looks as if it might be, but our fingers are crossed for the big man who has had enough time out of the game. The injury to Leigh could not have come at a worse time. He was two goals for two games and only a handful short of the 100.

The fans needed this. The manager needed this. The other players needed it. It’s another show of force, another sign of our reach, as compared to other SPL clubs. Whilst some scramble around trying to fill their squad with warm bodies we wanted something a little bit special. And Musonda is exactly that. He is exciting. This signing is exciting.

Charley is highly rated. There are those (we know who they are) who will sneer; but their own signings can’t get into sides like Norwich and Notts Forest. Musonda was trying to crack the Chelsea team. I know who my money is on for having the biggest impact.

And the best of it is that Roberts is nearing full fitness again, which offers us the tantalising promise of him, Sinclair and Musonda together playing behind a rejuvenated Dembele in the games to come. That is such a prospect I am practically salivating over it.

There will be more signings of course. The Hendry move seems to be alive. The injury to Gordon means signing a keeper on a short term deal is inevitable. There might even be players heading out of the club. But this is the one we’ve been waiting for, the adventurous signing, the classy one, the bums-on-seats one that stokes the imagination.

We can be cynics on the blogs at times, but I like to think we also give the club the utmost credit when they deserve it and they most certainly deserve it in this case. Congrats to everyone at Celtic who worked to make this happen.
