Too Many Celtic Fans Are Too Easily Swayed From Giving Sevco Proper Scrutiny.

Earlier today I read with some disgust about the treatment Paul Larkin is getting on social media over his latest film, and the decision to screen it in the Kerrydale Suite. The reaction of some members of our support is frankly atrocious.

It’s a symptom of a wider issue, the ease with which some of our fans are dissuaded from giving Sevco scrutiny. Many of them shriek that they do not care about Sevco, but examine their statements closely and you’ll find that the opposite is true.

Some of them care very much. They bristle when Sevco fans, using the most pitiful comeback ever, call them and our fans “obsessed.” They worry what Sevco fans think of them and our wider fan base. They have a problem far bigger than the one they accuse Paul Larkin of having.

Any Celtic fan who uses what I call the O word is a moron. That’s a word invented by the other side and it was invented to stop us from scrutinising them or laughing at them, and let’s face it they are a club just begging for it. Those Celtic fans who are so easily swayed by that word are pathetic; grow some balls and laugh in the faces of these Peepul.

Because if you can’t do that you’re just not having enough fun in your life.

That vocal, easily swayed section of our support who moan that they don’t care about Sevco but are awfully concerned by what their fans think of us should get on with supporting their club and leaving the big issues to those of us who understand them.

Because Rangers might be dead and gone by the ideas that club was built on remain and the section of our support which “doesn’t care” but clearly does should stop their bitching and thank those of us who do for keeping our eyes on what’s going on elsewhere. Some of our fans appear so nonchalant about being cheated for a decade or more … if it was left to them we would get cheated for the next decade too.

Paul Larkin is one of those guys who does what he does using his own name.

He bursts his balls in an effort to put the recent history of Scottish football into some kind of context. His critics within our support don’t have a tenth of his courage or his ability; they are too easily led by tabloid scum and they are too easily embarrassed by the O word and its connotations.

Anyone content to sit at the back of the bus belongs there. Paul Larkin does not. He takes a stand. He fights. I’d have him on my side any day before those others who squirm at childish barbs and can’t seem to wrap their brains around why keeping an eye on Ibrox is important.

Those who are attacking Paul on Twitter and elsewhere and who routinely attack myself and others for our focus on what goes on over in Govan have every right to scroll past or ignore our work; they have no right to criticise it, and especially not in the language of the enemy. They are doing the work of Ibrox and its pitiful PR operation.

And they piss me off. If they want to hide under the bed that’s fine by me, I’d never demand that anyone pick up a weapon and man a post; that stuff is a matter of personal choice. But it’s a whole different story when they jump into matters they don’t understand and launch personal attacks on those of us who do.

I’ll try not to use too many big words in what follows, the better so they get it. Sevco represents a clear and present danger to the wellbeing of Scottish football. They are not Rangers but they are acting like them. They are still defying financial gravity. They are still violating SFA regulations. They still have undue influence over the governing bodies and the game, and their media lackies continuously attack us.

Pretend your don’t care; the truth is you don’t want to have to do something about it. Paul Larkin isn’t asking you to. He’s not even asking that you thank him for his service to our community and the game as a whole. He doesn’t seek to be a hero .

But he deserves better than your puerile, childish Sevcolite bitching. You sound more like them than you know. You act more like them than should make you comfortable.
