That was incredible. Sky Sports News just told the country that Sevco has received a £7 million bid for Alfredo Morelos. From China. A story that the bloggers have already shown is more full of holes than a Polo Mint warehouse.
Everyone who knows anything at all about the player knows that this is absolutely without foundation of any sort.
This has already become a farce.
“Talks are ongoing,” said Murty, which the press took exactly as it was intended. That this is a serious story and not just fanciful garbage. Do we believe him or do we believe he believes it? That he’s just parroting what he was told whether he does or not? He was hired because he is pliable, gullible, a box checker.
Murty sat there today and told lies. Barefaced lies. He knows the club is under pressure to sell. He knows they have to. The media should have grilled him on this; they couldn’t even afford the up-front costs of the Murphy or Docherty deals. Brighton wouldn’t play ball. Hamilton did.
I guess the English club doesn’t have connections to the Ibrox boardroom.
This is from King. This is something he’s floating. This is so obviously out of his playbook; it is overblown, hype, braggadocio. They couldn’t just leave this semi-realistic, as an offer of around £3 million. They have to chain it to the moon.
They have to make out that they’ve turned down an offer so big it would negate the need for shareholder’s loans.
But as usual they haven’t considered the rest of the big picture. Imagine you’re a director they are going to for the next of those loans? Wouldn’t your first question be about these ridiculous stories? Why would you put your hands in your pockets when the club is turning down this kind of dough? Can a club which depends on charity to keep the lights on really afford to say no to a turnaround like this? Is our media really too stupid to ask that?
Morelos already thinks he’s too good for the SPL. His agent will be following these stories with great interest. If you were in his shoes, wouldn’t you be phoning Ibrox right now and demanding to know who the club is and what the terms on offer were?
Honest to God, what a joke that was. Every Scottish based hack at that press conference was virtually pissing all over the floor with excitement. Over nothing. Absolutely nothing. Are they just the dumbest people in Scotland or do they know they are promoting a fiction so that Sevco can bring in some much needed cash? Do they care?
That was an insult to the viewers though.
It was an insult to the readers of every one of those titles.
They allow Sevco to lie … and they promote those lies. Disgraceful.
