When I wrote in the last article about nobody at Celtic Park laughing (not publicly anyway) at the plight of Sevco, or taking our eyes off the ball, I was talking, of course, about the management team who run the club and Brendan and his coaches who run the football department. It doesn’t mean that other people, the “professional fans” can’t have a little fun.

And today the Celtic Twitter team has served up a masterclass in trolling, one which made me want to give them a standing ovation.

I’ve been doing this a long time now; I’ve been blogging for about six years and I follow a number of my fellow writers online, religiously.

I’ve seen The Clumpany produce stuff so side-splitting I literally couldn’t breathe reading it. I’ve seen Phil delve into the deepest well of sarcasm to expose the Peepul at their worst. I’ve read Paul67 write very clear-headed stuff that nevertheless veered into outright mockery and slagging. Joe McHugh has found gems of wit and wisdom in the most absurd circumstances across town; they all have my admiration.

But for the club’s official Twitter account to slip, today of all days, a picture of Kenny Miller, in a Celtic strip, celebrating like a cup winner as a forlorn player in a blue jersey stands in the background, into a tweet above the caption “Broony was head-over-heels on Sunday … He’s not the only one to have enjoyed a Celtic goal over the years …”

Well, Hell, that is artistry I simply have to pay tribute to.

It is magnificent. It hits the mark like a professional archer on a windless day. It knows where the heart is and goes straight for it. Any one of the bloggers would have been proud of that but it wouldn’t have found such an audience. One national newspaper has already highlighted it; I expect others will do the same, perhaps to call it an example of bad taste.

But if you can’t find that funny you’re just not enjoying life as you should be. Then again, we are talking here about the mainstream media … and a lot of them are hurting as much as those who have to pay to get into Ibrox.

On an afternoon where I was already feeling plenty cheerful, though, that Tweet has really made me smile.

Excellent work to the Celtic media team.

You excelled yourselves there.
