Craig Levein Sounds More Pathetic Every Time He Opens His Mouth.

Craig Levein has spent this entire season letting his ignorant mouth get him into trouble; it was no surprise to see that he chose the pre-match press conference with Hibs to have another go at Celtic. Those who defend him will say he was asked a question and answered it, and I agree, but there’s a way to go about your business without behaving the way he does. Celtic is not the only club, and Brendan not the only manager, he’s had a pop at.

How dumb is this guy anyway? He openly boasts about how he and Hearts intend to let the grass grow before we visit Tynecastle next time. Good on him. It worked one time out of two and not even the last time. If he thinks long grass had anything to do with their win over us earlier in the campaign then he knows even less about football than I thought he did. If that was what he was banking on at the weekend – and if it’s what he’s banking on in future – he’s a bigger joker than King.

But of course, we are talking about a manager who once played nobody up front as national coach in a must-win game.

Look, it doesn’t matter what Brendan said after the game; this guy would have found a reason to moan about it. Had Brendan praised everything at Hearts Levein would have taken it as a personal slight because when it comes to Brendan he has a huge chip on his shoulder and inferiority complex is only part of it. This is still about Ian Cathro.

How pathetic do you have to be to still be holding a grudge over that? Levein is lucky the league still has Neil McCann, otherwise he’d be hands down the pettiest and most spiteful little shrew operating in it. But the Dundee boss is going to be hard to beat on that front.

There’s nothing about Levein that doesn’t inspire derision, from the way he more and more resembles a down-and-out to the ludicrous stuff that comes of his mouth. After the match he asserted that had their (rightly) disallowed goal stood the one they scored would have made it 2-0; does it really need someone to explain chaos theory to this guy before he understands that the whole game would have looked different had the ref not spotted the foul on our keeper? It’s a nice wee thing to console yourself with, but it’s garbage nonetheless.

Levein is a small man. He has a weak mentality. He is easily riled. Tomorrow night he will go up against Neil Lennon, who he’s already insulted this season to his own cost. Hibs will be desperate to win that one and I hope they do; it will be interesting to see if he offers them any credit afterwards or if he finds some small minded excuse to moan.
