There’s a lot of anger today in Sevco Land.

“What’s new?” I hear you ask. “There’s anger in Sevco Land every single day.”

And that’s correct, but this is the kind of anger I particularly enjoy and get off on. It’s anger directed at their own club, over their latest public relations fiasco; the failure, so far, to have a kit launch and the club having no clear idea of when it will be.

As if this isn’t bad enough, their response to fans who have demanded answers isn’t exactly what you would call a professional, or particularly soothing, one.

In fact, their supporter liaison has told fans not to worry … because things will be better the season after next.

Yes, I am not kidding here.

They’ve told their fans to be patient … because the kinks will be ironed out for the 2019-20 campaign getting started.

In fact, the supporter liaison has refused to answer questions about whether the fans will be able to buy shirts before the season actually starts … the best guarantee he could give them was that the players would have theirs in time for the games and that their fans will be able to buy them “before Christmas.”

Which is seven months away ….

Guess what?

They are blaming Mike Ashley for all this. King and his board claimed to have cut the tie with this guy yonks ago, but they are still accusing him of having influence over their affairs. It’s incredible. They have claimed that they can’t even start negotiating to get a retail agreement until the current contracts with Puma and Sports Direct come to an end.

In contrast to this, Celtic launched their own home kit earlier in the month in a flashy, fashion show type event which was wholly professional and high profile.

This will be the second year straight that Sevco’s board of geniuses has failed to do the same.

What a farce that organisation is.

Is there a more dysfunctional football club on the planet than this lot?

How in the Hell do they get themselves into states like this, where even the simplest tasks end up a calamity?

In the meantime they are trying to convince their fans that there’s a plan behind all this, that Gerrard has been brought in to oversee a transformation. When a club cannot get the basics right, when they cannot even organise a strip launch, why does anyone believe the manager has a clue what he’s walking into?

This lot could make a mess out of boiling water.

You could not make this up.
