Kris Boyd, this is the only part of my day you get. Because today isn’t about you or the desperate club you played for or your ignorant, childlike opinions or the bile you pour out in your semi-literate column for a scummy arse rag. This is all you get. Not the whole article, but this one paragraph. You attention seeking goon. You have the bare minimum of mine, in fact you’ve had it. I can see your face right now, and you’re not smiling. It would crack your ugly face to smile today.

Today belongs to Celtic.

Today belongs to all my brothers and sisters in this Family.

It is not about lording it over so-called rivals or feeling superior. This is a special day. It is a celebration of what makes Celtic great and glorious. It is a measure of how far our club has come. It is historic and it gives me and every other fan enormous pride and satisfaction that we can have it. We have struggled for this, for a day like today, and here we are.

There are players in our squad, like Kieran Tierney, who will have greater success in their careers than most all other footballers. They will win titles and trophies. They will play against the biggest clubs in the world. They will be hero-worshiped by the best fans on Earth. It’s not about money; they are here because they get it.

Guys like Kieran. Guys like Scott Brown. Guys like Tom Rogic.

When they signed their new deals none of them talked about other clubs except to say that the idea of leaving never crossed their minds for a moment. They are here for one reason; they love Celtic like we do. They feel this club in their hearts and days like today are as special for them as they are for us. For them, and for us, success is not something to boast about … it’s the stuff of beautiful memories and above all that pride I talked about a moment ago.

I understand people who want to belittle it. I understand people who want to spoil the mood. But they won’t. Today belongs to us, to you and to me, to Kieran Tierney, to Brendan Rodgers, to Tom Rogic, to Scott Brown, to Leigh Griffiths, to Moussa Dembele and to everyone else who makes this Family up and who makes this Family great.

Brothers and sisters, love and respect to all of you.

Enjoy this one. Squeeze every bit of goodness out of it, and put it in a jar.

Our generation will be talking about this to our great grandkids.
