Wait for weeks for a transfer story and two come along at once …

Fresh from the news that Ajeti looks to be on his way in a loan-deal with an option to buy,

The Evening Times and other outlets are reporting, tonight, that we’ve finally made the breakthrough in our bid to buy Vasilios Barkas, the AEK Athens keeper.

The reputed cost of this deal? An eye-watering £5 million.

This is the kind of flexing of our financial muscle which says “we’re not messing about here.”

When this site believes Celtic deserves stick we dish it out.

When we believe the club deserves praise, we give that out too.

Lawwell got it in the neck over the weekend for “playing high stakes poker”; it seems that the Sharp Suited Man got the deal he wanted in the end.

On a day like this, he can grin like a supervillain in a Bond movie for all I care.

If he gets this deal over the line and the Ajeti deal with it, then alongside the Elyounoussi transfer – which is already done but only keeps us as strong in that position as we were last season – this will be shaping up, nicely, to be one Hell of a good window.

There will be talk of someone leaving. The talk is inevitable.

Someone actually going isn’t.

Bayo will probably depart if the big West Ham striker touches down.

The two key priorities – listed as 1 and 2 in the pre-season rankings – were a goalkeeper and someone to play at central defence.

The keeper was obviously crucial with Gordon having left and Forster going back to England on loan.

If that position is filled then that’s great work.

This is only the start of the summer business.

Finally, Celtic is flexing its muscle, and just as we’re about to go into battle in the season we’ve waited for all our lives.

This is a great way to head into the weekend.
