What In God’s Name Is Lennon Playing At With Today’s Team Selection?

This guy just never learns, does he?

Who can tell me what the formation is today?

I’ve looked at it a dozen times and it doesn’t fit into any of the systems I’ve written about before.

Shockingly, we’ve gone with one up front.

Who are we playing out wide?

Where’s the second striker, except on the bench?

If you’re going to rotate the squad what’s the purpose behind playing Brown every week?

Honest to God, I am shocked looking at that team selection. We have a good squad here, there is no excuse for playing multiple players out of position or shoehorning his favourites into the team every other week, no matter what it does to the balance of the side.

That might well be the most imbalanced Celtic team shape I’ve seen in a long, long time.

I have no idea what he is doing and I am not even interested in trying to figure it out.

We had better do this job today or he’s going to have serious, serious questions to answer and no amount of clinging on to Dermot Desmond’s endorsement should spare him them. All we have to do today is put out a good team and roll over the opposition … but the pre-match chit-chat is all going to be about what the Hell the manager is up to.

Too many questions here for me even to attempt to answer until after the match.

Lennon is testing the patience of this support, and he’s giving the media headlines to write.

You watch if this doesn’t increase speculation about Edouard.

If it doesn’t spark another round of “but does he trust Klimala?” and I can’t even argue with any of it.

Because honestly, that’s a ridiculous team selection today.

Certain players just walk into this team every week regardless of form, whilst others never get a sniff. And the thing is, it’s those players we will be depending on when the fixture backlog is at its worst and Lennon will doubtless tell us how they are lacking match fitness.

Whatever he’s up to today, it better work.

If we drop anything at all he is going to be under pressure like never before, but there is no excuse for this dire selection whether we win or not.

CELTIC: Barkas, Taylor, Duffy, Brown, Ajeti, Christie, Ntcham, Frimpong, Ajer, McGregor, Elhamed.

Subs: Bain, Bitton, Klimala, Soro, Turnbull, Rogic, Edouard, Elyounoussi, Forrest
