From the moment the Eddie Howe deal collapsed, the mood amongst much of the support has been moribund and downbeat. This is hardly surprising. Our club has lurched from one disaster to another in the days and weeks since.

The hiring of a new manager is supposed to be something that gets people back up for it.

The name was not exactly inspiring. The choice appears risky at best.

In the meantime, the steady drip-drip-drip of stories linking players with moves out of Parkhead continue.

The new manager is in place now, whether we’re happy with the choice or not.

The task now falls on the club to give him the support he is definitely going to need. The best place way they can show their commitment is to get busy in the transfer market.

There are good players out there, many of whom are out of contract.

We need to start moving in and closing deals. We need to start the process of rebuilding this squad. All of us want better news in the days and weeks ahead. This is the way to raise the mood.

A morale raising signing is overdue.

Fans are still being asked to buy in to a campaign in which there are still a lot of unknowns. The doubts would be significantly eased if we went and brought in a couple of quality footballers.

The whole club needs this lift.

This must be the week we start turning the relentless tide of negative headlines. It is unbelievable that we have messed about like this, especially when you consider the enormous prize in store for whichever club wins the SPL next season.

This allegedly risk averse club certainly knows how to gamble at times.
