The race for Kris Ajer is heating up, but it looks as if it is going to be won by the Germans of Bayern Leverkusen.
That should assure that Celtic gets a nice fat fee from the sale of the player.
He has been a decent servant to our club, although we’ve consistently played him in the wrong position.
He will be a hit in the Bundesliga and it won’t be his last destination.
Ajer gave us a reasonably good campaign, hamstrung only by the natural limitation that he is, in fact, not actually a central defender, as was evidenced in several high profile errors during the last campaign.
For all that, the big lad never chucked it, he soldiered on and gave us his best.
Not every player who wanted a move could say the same.
Fans will wish him well, I’m sure, especially as we now appear certain to net a decent transfer fee for him.
That will guarantee that we continue to get good money for transfers far into the future.
This is in stark contrast to those over in Sevconia who are trying to drum up interest in Kamara through the media and who face losing their star striker for a mere £10 million, if they even get that.
In addition to Ajer, Odsonne Edouard also looks likely to be the subject of a bidding war, with several clubs now interested after Leicester withdrew last week.
