This morning, I was sent Murdo Fraser’s rancid article in The Scotsman, and another highlighting the condemnation of that piece by a senior SNP councillor.

In Fraser’s deranged rant, which could have been lifted right out of the sewers of Follow Follow (an official “club media partner” and more on that later, I assure you) he brazenly suggests that there is some anti-Ibrox element in the SNP.

For an elected official to indulge in such paranoia is between him and his electorate, and to a lesser extent his party.

The Scottish Tories have never shied away from playing the sectarian card though and as their leader is the Crap Linesman it doesn’t take a genius to guess which way they lean overall.

They will do what they’ve always done; sew division and hope for a benefit.

No, the real problem here is a national newspaper giving him the platform on which to grandstand and stoke hatred like this. The Scotsman should not have given this clown such an opportunity to indulge his own bitterness and fuel these fires.

That a mainstream title would even print such dirge is bad enough, but because this comes from an MSP the rabid nonsense – the dangerous nonsense – underpinning it is lent additional legitimacy, and that is astonishingly reckless and stupid.

The decision to allow this piece into print has to be seriously questioned.

It is not a “public interest” piece, or an expose.

If it’s to be called an opinion piece it would be on a par with climate change denial or espousing the theory of a flat earth, although that one, though dumb, would not be considered to be hazardous disinformation by an elected official.

This falls into that category. It is a shameful piece of writing, stoking embers which Fraser apparently wishes to see become a conflagration.

He has already been condemned for the way he attempted to justify the George Square riot … The Scotsman knew what they were getting here.

Shame on them for allowing him to spread this muck.
