Once Again, A Pro-Celtic Decision Has Refereeing Critics Coming Out Of The Woodwork.

In the aftermath of last night’s game, it was great to see how many of the pundits were having a melt-down about yet another decision falling in favour of Celtic.

They lapped up Robbie Neilson’s bizarre rant about the referee costing them the game and, of course, one clown in particular embarrassed himself and his employers by losing the plot completely.

I’ll get to him later, of course. Let’s talk about the general belief that decisions have fallen for us this season to a degree we’ve not seen in a while. For this is the perception that some in the press want to push.

And, of course, it is sheer nonsense.

I laughed last night at the number of them who mentioned VAR and how necessary it is.

The idea should scare the Hell out of them, and you will not find a single Celtic fan who will object to it. Most of them don’t even understand what VAR does or what it is for; they are only convinced that it would have deprived us of a goal last night.

I enjoy that we’ve had some decisions this season. I want us to keep on getting them, and not just because the hacks go crazy whenever we do.

The only way to get reform is if the media and other clubs are motivated to do it. It is perfectly obvious that Celtic getting decisions would give them more motivation than a certain other club getting them.

Ibrox is never going to seriously push reform, but maybe the Aberdeen’s and Hearts’ and Hibs’ of this world might be pushed to give it a try.

In the meantime, I am always thrilled when we get a 50/50 … and by the way, last nights was a 50/50, it was not, in any way, an obvious error, it was tight but it went our way and there’s little doubt about that.

Just knowing that in TV studios and commentary boxes all over the country hacks are doing their nut over it – not to mention the apoplexy on Ibrox forums – makes me smile.

Because we get so few of them, and because when you hear the reactions of these people you would think we got a different one every single week.

As I’ve said before, you will know when these people are not just whingeing, when they get real.

Because their clubs will propose and then campaign for actual changes.

And you know what? Far from standing in their way, most of our fans will be right behind the idea, backing them up.
