The Transfer Business At Celtic Seems To Be Progressing Well. But Is It Incomplete?

As we head out of this year and into another, it seems apparent that the club is busy behind the scenes getting its transfer business over the line. The signings of the three Japanese players looks as near certain as it can be.

Maeda will be coming here initially on loan, but we’d all expect that deal to be made permanent if he can do the business on the park.

But do Celtic need more than three players? And is it right to sign them all from one country, when there is a high likelihood that they will all be away in February, thus depriving us of their talents at a critical time?

With injuries still piling up, do we need more?

Yosuke Ideguchi is a midfielder, and it’s clear that Ange wants more players in that position. At the moment though we’re going into the game against the Ibrox club minus Rogic and Turnbull; we need to consider bringing in someone in their position, especially if Turnbull is going to be out for a while as some people obviously fear.

Would it make sense to go into that game, and the one against Hibs, with only what we have at the club at the current time? I know we’re not going to base transfer policy on two matches, but this crisis has shown us that the attacking midfield position is one where we do still need some options. It isn’t the only one.

It’s clear we could do with another player out wide as well.

Don’t get me wrong; we’re nearing a point where this squad will be just about complete, and that’s an exciting thought and something most of us didn’t expect to happen during this campaign, because the rebuild we faced was so extensive.

The work is obviously progressing well. But it’s not finished yet.

The need for reinforcements in certain areas is still critical. We have made an excellent start; let’s hope that Ange gets the backing he needs to get these last few deals across the line.

We need some players who can defend at set pieces and be a threat at set pieces. Buying 3 players at 5ft 8 is not nearly going to cut it. Yes we need them they will be great ..but we need more than that……….We need a tall centre half 6ft 2+, a left back (preferably tall), and a defensive midfielder in addition to the players mentioned. Scales and a new left back from Japan may be enough. For this season..
GK we seem ok, RB we are OK, CH we eed one tall, LB may be ok id prefer a tall international level players. DM We need someone. AM possibly one more. CF possibly one more. LW possibly one more. RW we need Forrest back.

Said it many times before but Lewis Ferguson would be an ideal signing to strengthen our midfield.

Either you don’t know or haven’t checked your facts that if three first team players are away on international duty you have the right to ask for a reschedule…Everyone knows that except ?
