Rae Takes Aim At The Celtic Sites, And Only Shoots Himself In The Foot.

Alex Rae; you’ve got to love this guy.

He is Clyde’s key “asset.”

There must be people who tune into their show whenever he’s on just to laugh at whatever gaffe he’s going to make on a given night; certainly, there are few other reasons to care about his view.

Last week, as we all know, he got himself into a bit of a state when he suggested that no player is truly versatile and that he has one position. Just moments later, he praised Ibrox’s new signing for his versatility.

The original point was, of course, about Celtic’s new bhoy Hatate.

Rae did what he does; he hit out at Celtic, without even giving it a second’s thought; he actually knew he was going to get asked about the new boy at Ibrox right after it … and he did this anyway.

Now, a lot of us commented on it at the time, but there was an interesting update to this story last night, as highlighted by the site Born Celtic.

A caller to the show the other night took him to task on it, and Rae decided to go on a wee rant about the Celtic fan media and Celtic social media as a whole, referring to “individuals sitting there playing with their wee moose” – that’s how he put it, I won’t tidy it up for him.

And then he flatly denied that he ever did such a thing, implying that it was doctored.

Sadly, for him, many of us have the audio recording close to hand, and Born Celtic – which was one of the sites which ran the original story – was especially pleased to republish it just for the occasion.

Which is kind of hilarious.

Does Rae not understand how this stuff works?

Did he really think that he was going to get away with that?

Apparently so.

Either that or he’s so loaded down with his own bias that things come out of his mouth reflexively which he can’t even recall later on.

But that’s what the bloggers do best; we remind these people, constantly, they can’t get away with this kind of crap any longer, that they are accountable for the words they say and write, that when they let bias cloud their judgement, we’ll remind them of how bad that makes said judgement.

And his initial comments were already a whopper of an error, compounded by his pitiful attempt to suggest that they were spun or manufactured when most of us have them saved.

You couldn’t even make this stuff up.
