Minimum Fee Release Clauses And A Hard Truth Sevco Will Have To Accept.

As I was writing the last piece, it dawned on me that there was something I forgot to mention in it; the bizarre reaction from the press and the Ibrox supporters about comments that Hagi’s uncle made to the media over the last couple of days.

That story was another excellent example of Ibrox fans and their press toadies hearing and seeing only what they want to, and ignoring any inconvenient truths. The numbers in that article were not real numbers; they were plucked out of thin air.

Yet The Record ran with a screaming headline that the club would get £20 million for him if he left.

This is pie in the sky though.

The uncle says he knows there is a release clause in the contract, but he doesn’t know what the number is. He threw three up in the air and The Record published them as they were, which I wasn’t alone in finding amusing. “£15, £17 and £20 million.” My sister joked that it’s likely to be closer to the £15 than the £20 million.

All joking aside, it is utterly moronic for them to be excited even if that £20 million was a hard number, which I very much doubt. That’s merely the point at which the club has no choice but to let him go, and when Hagi’s agent was negotiating that deal I don’t believe for a second he would have allowed a number so ridiculous no-one would ever meet it.

Because reality runs into fantasy when it comes to this stuff.

Just because that number is in there, it doesn’t mean that’s the transfer fee which would make a deal inevitable. Ibrox will talk long before a number like that is gotten even close to.

A lot of transfer deals are done without the minimum release clause coming near to be being breached and unless his particular one is significantly more realistic than the fanciful garbage The Record was running I wouldn’t imagine they’ll be anywhere near it.

Hagi is one of the most overhyped players in the country, part of one of the most overhyped squads. They still think all they have to do is name their price, hold out for it and they can put the money in the bank; it doesn’t work that way, and no matter how many times you spell this out to these muppets they aren’t getting it at all.

Just because some idiot on an Ibrox fan-site thinks that Aribo is worth £30 million or Hagi £20 million, that doesn’t automatically make it so.

They’ve seen us doing this and think it’s easy to do; it’s hard to accept that they can be this dumb, but they obviously are because they’ve been singing this tune for years now and not one single high value transfer out of their club has so far come to pass.

The talk on one fan-site recently was of the “clubs owned by billionaires” who are sniffing around their players; what does it matter who owns the clubs?

There are still FFP regulations, scouting reports, transfer analysts and expert’s views to take into consideration before any cheques are written, not to mention that these guys didn’t make their loot in the first place by pissing money against the wall.

All these Peepul heard was “minimum release clause” and they jumped to conclusions; “Oh that’s what we’ll definitely get if he goes.” They just have no grasp whatsoever for the way football actually works.

It certainly doesn’t work like that.

You’ve hit the nail on the head here. Can you see Newcastle coming in and paying £20 million for a player who, at best at his present club, is a benchwarmer?

As you’ve pointed out, these clubs have experts in place and it’s a world market. If Sevco demand £20 million for Hagi these clubs will just go and pay a quarter of that to a club elsewhere for a player twice as good.

There’s a reason nobody bids on any of their players…

The smsm have previous for this guff ,
Every transfer window ,they bandy about all sorts of pie in the sky valuations ,for sevco players

All of Europe knows how the game works up here. Penalties for sevco when they require them. Opposition players sent off when sevvies are struggling. No-one is fooled. Which is why they won’t be getting Dembele dollars for ANYBODY, any time soon. HH

Hagi 20mil Jota 140mil. Aribo 30mil cal Mac 210 mil . These people are so thick anybody can put numbers about all pie in the sky to keep the numpties going.

The players you mention and I add kent too will see their contracts out at Ibrox and leave for buttons. Hagi is not a good footballer. Decent in a Scottish league with the help of their friendly refs but he is not a roll the sleeves up guy when things arent working out. Kent is the same.

Rangers will be found out soon when Celtic have added wisely to the squad and they have a couple go. There fans want to see sales, it’s bizarre.

You will only get what clubs are willing to pay and one look at the rangers fag paper accounts and impending court findings will show this is a club in desperate need of cash and quick.
