Celtic Has To Forget Thursday Night. Today It’s Back To Business Again.

Thursday is over.

Today it’s back to the league business, and Ange and this team should put the European match behind us and focus everything on that. There’s no point in dwelling, there’s no point in a selection which keeps people “fresh” for the return leg; this is Celtic’s bread and butter, this is the serious stuff right here at home.

The team has been brilliant for months.

One result is not going to rock our confidence or put us on the back foot. One result is not going to make us crumble to dust. We are the form team in Scotland and this afternoon, at 3pm, we’re going to show the game why.

Ange should field the strongest team he can.

He should ignore what may or may not have happened at Tannadice. The simple fact is that it doesn’t matter what our rivals do; if we win this afternoon we stay top of the league and another game is scored off the fixture list. That’s the reality. That’s where we are at the current time and no amount of media sneering about Bodo can change that.

We have to act like the league is all that matters.

You know? Because in a very real sense it is all that matters.

Do you think if Ibrox had been on the wrong end of that result in midweek that the press would have been mourning it? They would have spun it in two seconds; they can now concentrate on the domestic games.

That would have been the narrative, and we know that because it was already being spun before kick-off.

Today is for getting back down to it.

Today is for making sure that we go to Easter Road at the top of the table, because that’s what matters.

It is grounds like that, and Livingston, and Ibrox, which will decide how this season is remembered … not a wet Thursday night at Celtic Park in Europe’s third tier competition.

This is the more important game by far.
