If Barry Ferguson Thinks His Club Wants To Face Celtic’s Big Greek He Is Quite Mad.

Barry Ferguson has spent the last week telling us who we should fear; Aaron Ramsey apparently. Who has been finding it hard to sleep since he scored against Dundee last week?

Nobody? No? Yeah me neither.

Today he’s apparently talking about who their players don’t fear … or rather who they fear least.

Apparently they have fewer concerns about Giakoumakis, especially if the alternative is coming up against Kyogo.

A lot of our fans agree that Kyogo would be a better choice, but none of them would go far enough as to suggest the Ibrox players are relaxed about facing Scotland’s in-form striker.

Giakoumakis terrified them at Celtic Park.

Have they forgotten how outclassed they were by him in that match? He bullied them and harassed them and pushed them around every minute he was on the park. They couldn’t handle him at all.

Yet Ferguson thinks there are things missing from his game!

“He’s a danger inside the box but outside the box he’s not the most pleasant on the eye. He’s not got the link up. I think if you ask Goldson and Balogun who they want to come up against, it’d be Giakoumakis,” he said.

How insulting to the big man is that?

What games of his has he watched? And since when does a striker need to be good anywhere but the penalty area? Even if his assertion was true – which it isn’t by the way – the big guy does it where it matters.

Giakoumakis murdered them at Parkhead.

Goldson, in particular, was dragged all over the shop by him and nobody in their back line looked comfortable whenever he was near the ball. Since then he’s only gotten better and with his goals has come confidence.

If I were in their shoes I wouldn’t want to face Kyogo; I agree with that.

But Giakoumakis presents a different set of challenges and is still far better than their ability to cope.

I am sure the big guy will be reading about how keen they are to face him.

I am sure he’ll be looking forward to shoving their words down their throats.

I know that I’m looking forward to seeing him continue to rough their defenders up … and I reckon he could be the match winner.

It is a measure of the strength of this team right now that we have three forwards who could all play a starring role against them, along with a number of other front players who are capable of punishing them.

It’s why we’re looking forward to the game.

Indeed, I’m betting that we are looking forward to it far more than their players are.
