Celtic Explodes The Media’s False Narrative, But Still Some Hacks Want To Push It.

All week long, we had to endure a torrent of negativity.

It was the expected consequence of losing the cup semi-final, and especially when that loss was to the media darlings of Ibrox. The hacks were getting pretty excited about the possibility that our season might be starting to unravel.

To be fair, they’ve been writing the same sort of stuff all the way through the campaign, whenever we left it late to win or dropped any points.

Some of them are still desperately trying to push their shaky case this morning, with nonsense being written about how we looked “jaded” (Keith Jackson) or how we were “nervy” (from the BBC, the retirement home of ex-Ibrox players.).

But most of the hacks now realise that the gig is up.

Most of them now realise that this Celtic team is going to win this title, that we will be champions. Still, the tiresome nonsense continues to be perpetuated that this a team which is stumbling towards the line.

Our form this season has been exceptional. Last weekend we were poor.

Yesterday we were in total command of the game from start to finish.

A couple of our big players, who have been a little off-form of late, came back to the fore. Jota, in particular, was exceptional and we needed him to be. The one thing this team did not look was jaded.

Jackson and his colleagues are pretty miffed that we made such light work of what they were all hoping would be a banana skin fixture.

Even Hatate, who the press took such great delight in portraying as a guy on his last legs last weekend, put in a shift on the day and, of course, Maeda continues to be a miraculous example of what supreme fitness looks like … he once again covered every blade of grass and linked up brilliantly with Kyogo.

Some of our hacks are clearly fuming.

I hope Keevins is one of them with the utter garbage he turned out yesterday with all his talk about Black Sunday. Let them continue to underestimate this team and its will to win … let them continue to deny that we are on the brink of being a great, great side. In the end, the title party will happen … and they will have to cover it.

When they do they have to acknowledge something far darker than anything they’ve had to face so far; if we could win this league from such a dreadful opening round of fixtures, how can anyone hope to stop us next season if we hit the ground running?

With a proper pre-season instead of the chaos of the last one, this team is going to be very, very hard to beat far less stop on our quest for another title.
