Jota, And Why The Celtic Fans Refuse To Panic In Spite Of The Media’s Nonsense.

All last week, the media was focussed on the slow progress of Celtic’s deals for Carter Vickers and Jota. But really, they were only focussed on one of those deals, the tougher one, the one that involved the player from Spurs.

They threw up every possible roadblock that they could. Alan Hutton even invented a couple of them just for good measure.

The consensus was that this was the deal which we might not be able to do. The sight of Jota holidaying in a Celtic shirt and a raft of stories from Portugal, involving Benfica pretty much admitting defeat, made it sound done.

And you know what? I reckon it’s almost certainly already completed. He wants to be at this club. The club has agreed the deal with Benfica. According to the hacks here at home, reports in Portugal – from one outlet, laughably called Record – suggests there is some last minute snag. Over personal terms. Why, then, are most Celtic fans unconcerned?

Because we’ve heard it all before.

As I’ve said previously, the media does not have a clue what is going on behind the scenes at Celtic Park, and that’s even more true of the media over in Jota’s homeland.

There could be many reasons for the delay in announcing the deal … maybe we want to dominate the Monday news cycle as we dominated the one on Friday. Or maybe we’re busy on other things.

Whatever the reasons, the announcement will come in due course.

The signing will be confirmed when the club and the player are ready to confirm it. The press will speculate in the meantime, and some of them will even lie … but Celtic fans aren’t panicking.

And why should we? Good things come to those who wait … and we can wait a little longer.

At some point in the next few days, we’ll get what we want. An actual answer.

Then, whatever that answer is, we’ll move forward.

I cannot agree more with your reasoning James, we are all cool on the Jota deal, there is no immediate hurry and it is a case of que sera, sera. Still, it will be a firm statement of intent when the announcement is made and it will be a great start to our Summer transfer dealings.

When vickers signed last week a muted response in the media on the lad signing if the bigots had spent the same amount on a player it would be on the scottish national news and still be front page news let’s see who they buy snd spend great if jota signs or if not we buy some one else but I believe he has agreed to be celtic player he wants 3 year contract celtic want 4 years let’s see what happens.

Well, with the tumbleweed blowing across Edmiston Road during this transfer window,

the SMSM can only focus on CFC transfer activity: real and imagined.

And it looks like the SMSM has finally given up on copying/pasting the latest ‘rumoured’, Morelos big money move! 🙂

Well, this is one fan who is panicking. I may be the only one but I doubt it very much. There is more to this than meets the eye.
