The Billy Gilmour To Celtic Rumour: A Daft Idea Redeemed By Only One Thing.

Of all the crazy transfer rumours of the window so far, the one that I’ve seen doing the rounds about Billy Gilmour is the best.

This actually ended up popping up in the mainstream press the other day courtesy of that idiot Pat Nevin. Is he the reason this matter is even being discussed? Probably, because I haven’t heard the least thing to make me think it’s credible.

But I’ll tell you, I’d be all in favour of the deal.

Let me be honest; I think there’s a lot of hype about Gilmour which hasn’t yet been justified.

He’s a decent prospect, but right now that’s all he is and Steve Clarke’s insistence on playing him in every Scotland squad is just one of the reasons the national team sometimes looks hopelessly unbalanced.

He isn’t remotely ready for that kind of prominence.

So my reasons aren’t about football; frankly, if everyone was fit, he’d be on the bench every week.

As an impact sub he might be able to produce, but I’ve got much nastier reasons for being in favour of such a move, and this is why you should thank God I don’t run the club.

I would do it just to see the look on his mother’s face.

Nevin got that right anyway; his family would be one huge obstacle, and that bitter idiotic woman most of all.

Her conduct when he signed for Norwich was cringy to say the least, and the prospect of having to watch her grimace and gurn her way through at Celtic Park unveiling is something I would pay good money to see.

Other than that, the idea doesn’t have the least merit.

It’s a dumb idea promoted by a clownish figure who tries to come off as intelligent but is still capable of lunatic suggestions like this. And somehow this madness still went viral.

In light of the bizarre battle between Ibrox and Hampden it’s worth taking a look back at the A-Z of Scottish Football Scandals … check out our extensive article by clicking on this link. It is amazing how many of these involved Ibrox.

Knowing where their family lived as he grew up, even kicked a ball with him and couldn’t believe how talented the young boy was, they have surrounded themselves with huns and anti Catholic hatred all their lives. Wouldn’t want him or his family anywhere near Paradise. That sort of filth we don’t need

Its not just what team he and his family supports, if it was as base as just that I’d have him signed up too and support your comment. We’ve had players before that supported the now deid club, but sadly its not as base as that. I hope the boy’s travels away from this hate entrenched country have benefitted him as a person and offered an alternative life view separated from the hatred he grew up in but right now that just seems naive

  • Charlie Green says:

According to Wikki (so might not be true) he started out at Celtic and if so, the parents can’t be all bad.

“Gilmour spent three months, at a young age, with Celtic,”

  • SSMPM says:

Hey Charlie, I’ve been looking for any evidence of what you said re Gilmour at Celtic with no joy. Not arguing with you though fella but doubt if there’s any truth to it, clearly no signatures or contracts that can be evidenced but mibbies they at some point put their son’s interests first before their views that she in particular verbalised (wiki is difficult to rely on at times). What I can say in support of my comments is that his family moved to my very divided town and lived in and amongst the other lots supporters area who at times were very vocal, aggressive, and threatening at orange walks and all that nonsense eg when the Catholic kids were bused back in after school, etc. Also in fairness, though their silly bands would stop outside our house for one amongst many to intimidate, I can’t say that I seen their family there.

    • Charlie Green says:

Absolutely SSMPM, as I said it was Wikki and may have been made up and inserted recently, to show how Celtic “missed out”.
