Well, well, well. Ange continues to amaze me.

Without going into detail, he confirmed that he expects more footballers to be coming in and describes the club as “active.”

This is not something I expected to hear at this point.

Having done two deals in the last week, I thought he would now be happy with the squad … as it stands. I thought that maybe other business would be done, but later in the window.

It should be noted that he isn’t talking about doing anything quickly, and he said he expecting incomings and outgoings both … but it’s clear that we are working on signings behind the scenes which means that the plan exists right now and isn’t dependent on the vagaries of form, injuries or anything else. He is thinking ahead already.

I do still think players will have to depart first. I think if we’re after a new striker we have to get Ajeti off the books.

I think we’re probably looking to offload Jullien.

But I’m starting to think that he doesn’t see Mooy as our defensive midfield signing and wants someone in there. I wonder if perhaps he still doesn’t want a left sided midfielder.

We’d be guessing. But he clearly has priorities and he clearly still has targets.

I think the squad is looking damned good, and damned strong, but this is a man who’s never entirely satisfied and I am impressed that he still wants to tweak here and there and even more impressed that he knows already where he wants to do this.

We’re really in good hands here, folks, and I cannot wait for tomorrow’s game and I cannot wait for the season to start next weekend.

It is going to be great.

That’s good to hear. The man never seems to disappoint. Hope it’s another solid midfielder and a central defender included. Hugely important imo, we get especially the mid strengthened more. Another tough stopper with the one we’ve already brought in and I’ll be happy. If we can get another good central defender as well, even better.

Yes, it is encouraging that we are still prepared to strengthen the squad for targets that Ange may have previously identified, We do need though to shed some of our fringe players as we cannot afford to fork out wages for what amounts to passengers. I’m sure we will be open to loaning out some of them should they attract interest from elsewhere. I would add James McCarthy and Mikey Johnston to the list of deadwood, they are not good enough.

If you think of the team for the first game, it could be Hart, O Riley, Welsh and CCV and seven dwarfs, Juranovic, Bernabei, Hatate, McGregor, Jota, Abada Kyogo.
The front 3 are actually very good in the air for their size, but defensively we are exposed. Welsh and CCV are brave in the air but not commanding. The full backs are really small.
Its not just Livingston who will see that. CL opponents will see it as well. We have to keep free kick and corners conceded to a minimum. I wonder if we are the smallest side in both Scottish and English top 2 divisions.

I share your concerns jrm63 at the moment we’re the height of nonsense at the back despite was Ange says

Not seen a lot of Mooy but he looks a more advanced midfielder. If so we still need a major signing at DM.

First 11 or so are decent but squad quality is not enough. There’s 10 players I’d like off the books.

I am not the greatest on tactics but I believe part of “Angeball” is where the backs come into the midfield to help out. Against Sevco Bassey, Kent and Tavernier used this to their advantage as do most teams and utilize the large space either side of the Celtic 20 yd box due to the missing backs. The backs are always playing catch up.

Quite a lot of people on the forums are saying they trust Ange and then go on to tell him where the weaknesses are and I see them as goalkeeper who will take command of his area, centre back to help CCV, two tall backs who can defend corners. Attacking midfielder who can run with the ball.
MacGregor seems wasted in the holding roll and Reilly has learned even with all his talent to pass the ball straight back to whomever passes it to him. An old Forrest hiding trick.
I don’t see any improvement as far as Europe is concerned and there are just too many passes unlike Sevco who attack the opposition goal as soon as they get the ball which seems to work in Europe.
I may be proved wrong but Ange has shown a lack of judgement in awarding Forrest a new deal and playing McCarthy, Johnson, Forrest to name three, as well as getting shot of Rogic who still had a lot to give.
