Joe McHugh of VideoCelts isn’t often wrong when he presents team information to the support.
He keeps his ear close to the ground for any rumour or story on the goings on at Lennoxtown and Celtic Park, and so when he writes a story like the one he did yesterday, on how Moritz Lenz picked up a knock in a bounce game and is a doubt for the weekend people listen.
The Celtic Star did a piece on Joe’s piece.
Those articles aside, that’s really all I’ve heard about it.
But Joe is too good a source not take it seriously.
Nobody in the mainstream press has written a word of it though, and Celtic is silent on it.
Which is what you expect until Ange sits in front of the hacks tomorrow.
It will be interesting to hear what he has to say on this and some other things … but this is what a lot of fans will be focussed on. If he’s out we still have cover – Jullien, Welsh and Carter Vickers should give us enough – but with Starflet still some ways from being back it’s an early concern we could most definitely do without.
It might well be that Joe just picked up some bad information, or that the medical team at the club have taken a look at things and aren’t all that concerned. Lenz was said to have come off with the injury during the game; it might just be that it was a precaution.
Our fingers are crossed for it, because although there’s not that much of a worry about the defence holding up domestically until everyone is back, this is the sort of start to the season we didn’t want.
We fought injuries all the way through the last campaign, and Ideguchi is already going to face a spell out and now we have this to annoy us.
Hopefully it’s not serious, and even if he’s out for this game that he’s ready for the ones to come after it.
We might get lucky on this front for once.
