We all know that The Sun is the one most football fans associate with that gutter. It is no surprise to find their Scottish rag swimming in the sewer this morning with a diabolical headline.
Would you look at that for God’s sake?
Running battles up and down Paisley Road West, miles from our ground, but right next to theirs. Their fans, caught on camera, fighting with Spurs fans. Their forums openly boasting about it when they aren’t looking for other people to blame.
And The Sun tries to drag us into this with them? That’s ridiculous. That’s the tabloid press in Scotland at their absolute worst, actually spreading the blame instead of tackling the people directly responsible for it.
Celtic fans were only interested in watching our team yesterday.
If others wanted to beat the shit out of each other on public streets that’s their own affair and the disgrace reflects only on their club.

Celtic had a problem with casuals causing bother in the mid and late 80s that was giving us a bad name with trouble being caused in England and away in Europe.. when a car gas canister was thrown into the hibs end resulting in hundreds of innocents hibs fans being affected thousands of Celtic supporters mainly from the jungle stepped in and gave them a chasing and told them if they ever came back they would regret it.. we have never had any bother with casuals since and our supporters have never been given the credit they deserve for their actions.. not even from the club, that’s the difference between us and them but.

I fired off a strongly worded email to these clowns asking for an explanation to an obvious and deliberate misleading headline designed to deflect from one team and taint another innocent party.
Dont expect a reply, but thats one of the worst headlines I have ever seen, bears no resemblance to what actually happened.

Older readers might remember the Sun comparing muslims to pigs (1980s), the smearing of Jeremy Corbyn, a lifelong anti-racist campaigner who stood up for the framed Guildford Four,: Others knew of their innocence but were too spineless to take a stand, but the best reason is the smearing of Liverpool fans over Hillsborough.
