The Media Has Failed In A Pitiful Attempt To Turn Celtic Fans Against Our New Coach.

FANS

Every single day the media finds a new low point, and yesterday one paper – and I can’t even be bothered to name the rag in question because most of you already know which one it was, it’s the one it always is these days – decided to dig up an eons old video of Harry Kewell saying the word “Rangers” when asked to name his Scottish club.

He was then baited into some kind of additional pronouncement, something about “no surrender Ibrox loyal”, random words which some idiotic fan suggested for him.

This thing is ancient, and the paper has made no effort even to identify the timeframe.

But they made sure that it got plenty of coverage, by sticking the thing online and giving it a big push.

This article is so bad that nobody even wanted to put their name on it; it carries the cowardly tag “Daily Record Online Reporter” although the last word is being grotesquely misused there in my opinion because this is muck-raking not reporting.

No-one online gives a shit about this story.

No Celtic fan gives a damn.

Why should we?

Even if Kewell, at the time, was not just a player with no connection to Scotland who gave the answer to a question that he thought his audience wanted to hear, even if he were, in fact, an Ibrox diehard fan there is not a one of us who would lose a wink of sleep over it.

We care about two things; can this guy do a job, and will he do it well for us?

And the answer to both is “trust Ange” cause he picked this guy himself.

Kewell is a Celtic employee and that’s where the story ends.

We’ve had players who were Rangers fans growing up. That did not stop them becoming outstanding servants to this club, and our attitude towards the stuff has always been the same “who cares?” shrug.

The Record was looking for some sign that our fans might be as narrow minded and as stupid as the ones across the city, and they did not get it. But failure doesn’t exempt them for criticism – scathing criticism – for the attempt, and the attempt is disgusting.

This is the level these people operate at.

Shame on them for trying to create divisions and hatred where none exist.

At the end of the day that’s what they attempted here.
