Tom Cruise Appears At Wimbledon Sitting Near Third Rate Football Crook.

The Daily Record really is a pitiful arse-rag, isn’t it?

Tonight they have a headline up about how Dave King is hobnobbing with the “A-listers” at Wimbledon.

I think a better headline would have been the one I put at the top of this. That’s the story after all; that a Hollywood actor found himself sitting next to a bottom feeding charlatan, criminal tax cheat based in South Africa.

You have to wonder who at that paper plucked this one out of the ether, and how it came to their attention. Did King himself text a copy of the picture? That’s not beneath him.

He’s a self-serving smug bastard, and he’s done that stuff before.

It never ceases to amaze me how much devotion there is in the press for this two-bob villain who left Scottish football in disgrace after being blackballed by the City of London regulators. He was a disgraceful presence in our sport.

He brought shame on the SFA and made their “fit and proper person” test look like a joke.

The ink wasn’t even dry on his South African plea-bargain before they gave him control of a football club.

They love him to this day, as the man who delivered salvation, although when he took over they were pretty well run, with a good merchandising deal and on the brink of breaking even.

He left them a debt ridden nightmare more in our shadow than ever before.

His tenure coincided with the most successful run from a Scottish side in the history of the domestic game; our side, not his.

He was here for the Quadruple Treble.

He sneaked out of Ibrox with ten in a row looming.

He was not present on their board for Gerrard’s win in front of no fans. He was sulking in his wine cellar, a beaten man. His efforts to get back onto the stage have been a pathetic failure.

Even this bat-shit Ibrox board won’t have him.

Still, his friends in the media continue to pour honey in his ear. Amazing and shameful. King is one of the most discredited, and disgraced, people ever to hold office at a Scottish club. He has a longer charge sheet than Boris Johnson.

I hope Tom Cruise checked his pockets before leaving.

You never know what King might do.
