With The Season About To Start, Which Celtic Star Will Rise Above The Rest?

Each and every time I watch this team right now, I wonder which of the players in the squad is going to go on to become the superstar who sets the season alight.

Every single time this team plays a major game I identify a different one.

This is a testament to the talents of the manager in assembling this side.

You look at the quality right across the squad, and it’s everywhere. That makes it exceedingly difficult to pick a “winner” from the list of candidates. The field is wide open.

The best way to go about this, I think, is to look at the top footballers in this side and examine their qualities. Last year, Callum McGregor was the key man but the awards could just as easily have gone to Carter Vickers, Abada or Ralston.

This year the field is going to be even more crowded with the formidable talents on display from our club.

This article will attempt to explore, and identify, who the best of the bunch is going to be. These are the guys who will be the leading contenders for Celtic’s player of the year, and for the wider player of the year award in the game.

I am dying to know what you guys think of this, and who it’s going to be.

Can’t argue with Hatate..my belief is our best player will be O Reilly ..what a debate to be having

  • Tom Foolery says:

I Think Bernabei could be a real star but he seems like a bit of a thug at times. If he can control his thug side then i can see us all raving about him come May. I also think we could see Abada reach a new level this season…..unfortunately Ange has a soft spot for Maeda who, if we’re honest, isn’t that great. Jota at times is more interested in show boating. Hatate can’t seem to last 90 mins. Once he gets beyond the 65 minute mark he looks tired and constantly gives the ball away. CalMac will give his usual quality for the entire season. Turnbull, it seems, will be overlooked as a first pick which is a shame because given a full season injury free he could probably challenge the two strikers for top scorer. So my pick for the star man this season will be Kyogo. If the wee man gets into full flow he will be unstoppable.

  • Paul Sweeney says:

History shows not many wingers win it, can’t see it being a striker as we no longer have to rely on them solely for goals,so wholeheartedly agree it will be one of any of the midfield. Injuries will no doubt have an impact on the outcome.fingers crossed.
One thing not in doubt is the team of the year.hh

Going to go out on a limb here but I think Mooy might be the star man. Two footed, can pick a pass and score spectacular goals. Remind you of a certain Slovakian player that Dr Jo picked up for a song? Just a guess though.

  • Gerrard Duffin says:

    Jota

  • Gary Greer says:

I believe that Reo has looked the sharpest in pre season but as you say it could be any one of 7 or 8 players but my top is big G Giakoumakis I think he will be top goal scorer with Kyogo not far behind I can’t wait to get to the game today COYBIG

  • John S says:

    Kyogo.

  • Johnny Green says:

    Too tough to predict.

  • SSMPM says:

It could well come from a midfield player. If Guchi is allowed to play more by Ange and injuries I think its him or Reo. Outside choice and I’d love this to come to fruition, Stephen Welsh

  • Jamie Craig says:

Kyogo if he stays injury free.

  • Jimmy R says:

To be honest, I don’t give a s#@t. The cream will rise to the top and they will wear the hoops.

  • Chris says:

    Matt O’Riley for me.
    The new Tam Rogic.
    The lynchpin in midfield.
And thats some going when you see the quality beside him.

  • Iain McColl says:

I really rate Giorgos Giakoumakis. He will cause havoc amonst defences.
