Boyd Is Right. Jota Isn’t The League’s Best Player. He’s Not Even Celtic’s Best Player.

Kris Boyd has it right for once.

But he’s also wrong. Of course. What kind of world would it be if we had Kris Boyd being right in it? Whatever next? Hugh Keevins making a prediction that’s actually on the money? The planet would stop spinning on its axis.

Scott Allan (remember him?) was on Sky earlier today talking about Jota and said he was the best player in the country.

Boyd almost spat out his guts. He disputed it. Then, when he was put on the spot as to who is, he spluttered out “Alfredo Morelos.”

Oh please. What a pathetic answer, and the sort you expect from someone who said the first thing that popped into his head, regardless of how stupid it was.

The best player in the country probably isn’t Jota, although he’s started like the one who is head and shoulders above everyone else.

Four assists in the first two league games. Out of five goals.

Oh, yeah, and he scored the other one.

That’s the mark of a footballer finding top form.

Boyd spluttered something vaguely coherent about Morelos just being back.

The best player in the country is undoubtedly at Celtic Park, but you could argue all day about which of our top performers that is. Kyogo scored yesterday with typical panache. O’Riley looks like a superstar. Maeda was excellent. Hatate missed yesterday but we’re all already talking about him after his superb turn against Aberdeen.

Boyd had to try and pluck an Ibrox player out of thin air, and now there’s no Bassey to pee his pants over, and no Aribo he was forced to choose from the dreck already at the club last season or the guys who they signed, none of whom has done much yet.

So he went for the old tried and true, the guy who in the last two seasons combined has scored less that 25 goals in the league. He is a clown, but in disputing that Jota is the best player in the country he might even have started a proper argument about who is, if his entire thing wasn’t simply to deny Celtic any credit whatsoever.

At the moment of writing this, and from the data, it’s pretty clear that just on performances so far in this campaign Jota isn’t just the best player in Scotland but head and shoulders above every other performer. If he keeps it up he’ll remove any need for the discussion.

But there will always be a Boyd, or a Keevins, to argue black is white.

Kris Boyd would tell you black is white if it meant it was contradicting an opinion that was pro Celtic. He is the major reason I ditched Sky Sports.

He is, however, entitled to an opinion and I think it is fair enough he thinks it is Morelos. Whether he will be saying that in a months time could be down to Tuesday’s result.

    Mon the Belgiums.

You’re confusing “The right to express an opinion” with “The right to have an opinion”.
Some people’s opinions are so stupid and illogical that nobody in their right mind would have or express them.
Better to hold your tongue and have everyone think you a fool than open your mouth and prove it.

      • Roonsa says:

I didn’t confuse anything. I think saying that Alfredo Morelos is the best player in Scotland is not an utterly mental thing to say. I don’t agree with that opinion but I might say outside Celtic he is up there as one of the best in Scotland.

I do agree with your inference that Boyd shouldn’t be allowed to express his opinion. Some clown on here compared him to Sutton. Dear Lord. Said clown shouldn’t be allowed to express his opinion either.

  • Pan says:

The thing is Sean, yours is a reasoned opinion. However, Boyd’s is not based on reason, it is based on something else.

  • Garry Cowan says:

Jota could be the best money Celtic have ever spent

  • Frankie says:

Has Boyd not been trapped by stupid ignorant opinions already ie Rambo chocolate legs best since the wife beater.

  • Johnny Green says:

Boyd is entitled to his opinion and every time he voices that opinion he confirms that he is a clown with a brain the size of a pea,

Yes, Jota is the best player in the league bar none and he will continue to be so.

  • Anton says:

The man is an imbecile. Would be better not even giving him the airtime he craves.just hot air and bullshit that fllies from his mouth.

  • Starman says:

Boydchunkoz just a Fat Hun Bastard, A Bell-end, A NUMPTY wae an IQ less than ZERO BAWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

  • Michael Carroll says:

Boyd’s assessment is nonsense. Jota is superb. But my vote for best player in the country? You’d have to start with the player who’d be your first selection on the team sheet of the best team… so Calum McGregor, hands down

  • Bob (original) says:

Whilst Jota definitely looks the part – he’s got to do it consistently over several seasons.

Abada looks like he is coming onto his game, and could be the surprise this season?

And whilst I can’t normally see past the ever reliable CalMac as our best/most important player, O’Riley is looking very impressive.

Put Sam Dingle into the washing machine with big BENNY from Crossroads and out comes Kris Boyd.

  • Eric dillon says:

Kris Boyd is such an uneducated guy I’m surprised it bothers people to comment on what comes out of his mouth. One thing we can all agree on is that he’s a total bigot. And people like that lacks an education which makes it more surprising why sky Sports even gave him a contract. Everytime he opens ? his mouth he makes an absolute ? fool of himself. Can’t wait to hear what he says next.
