Celtic’s Contribution To The Co-Efficient Is A European Cup. That’s All That Matters.

stein european cup

The Daily Record is having some fun tonight, and Sevconia is united in joy, at the “news” that the Ibrox has made a greater contribution to Scottish football’s co-efficient than Celtic since the 50’s.

Where in God’s name do they get this crap?

Why do they assume that any of it matters to us or anyone else?

These little morale boosters are good for the clubs which have existed over there, but let’s not piss about here; they mean exactly nothing.

So both clubs got in the top ten overall for their nations.

Big deal.

So Ibrox finished ahead of AC Milan, AC Milan with their seven European Cups, two Cup Winners Cups and five Super Cups.

You see how preposterous this discussion is?

Scotland’s European record comes down to one thing; the European Cup we won in 1967.

The delusional fantasists at Ibrox and the Record might kid themselves on that their record stands up to that, but the world knows better and how pitiful these comparisons are.

Until they can equal that achievement – and they won’t, not ever – they will live in its shadow.

The diabolical attempt they made, last season, to suggest that a Europa League is the equal of the biggest club competition trophy in the world, was pathetic and not even some of their media allies were willing to accept that argument.

The co-efficient has become a real obsession with these nutjobs over the past couple of years.

We’ll see how discussion of it goes should they fail to overturn the 2-0 deficit against the Belgians come Tuesday night.

We’ll see whether they still care.
