The Jota-Kent Comparison Has Celtic Fans Laughing At Barry Ferguson.

You’ve got to love it when an on-form Celtic player is compared to one at Ibrox who isn’t kicking his own backside.

It was a matter of time before someone on their side of the street pointed to Ryan Kent as their own version of Jota. It was always going to be hilarious, because anyone making that argument would have to be pretty thick.

Well come on down Buckfast Bazza, and the assertion that Kent is like Jota “when on his game.” Whatever that means. What’s funny is that he’s said this in reference to last night, when, as he freely concedes, Kent “wasn’t at his best.”

So not last night, then? In a fortnight where our boy has three assists and a goal, taking him almost halfway to Kent’s total for the whole of last season.

I have a question arising from what Ferguson has said; what exactly does Ryan Kent at his best look like? Because he produces so seldom, he does so little, that I have enormous difficulty working out what it means.

I know this; all of four starting wide players – Maeda, Jota, Abada and Forrest – offer more than Ryan Kent does on a regular basis.

And when they are “on their game” they leave him behind in the dust, especially Jota and Abada who are far and away better footballers than the overhyped Englishman whose contract is running down and for whom they’ve had not one transfer offer.

Nobody in the media wants to dig deep into that, so let’s think about it for a minute.

At a time when clubs down south are forced – because of Brexit work permit regulations – to shop mostly in domestic markets it was Ajax who went for Bassey and paid the big bucks and Kent remains on the shelf in spite of his alleged brilliance.

Industry professionals – scouts and analysts – know what they are watching when they look at Kent, a player who shows up once in a blue moon and even then never gets near to the heights our guys scale nearly every week as part of our system.

Jota and Kent play in the same city, in the same league and in sort of the same position.

That’s where the similarity ends.

There are wingers are Partick Thistle and Queens Park but for some reason they never get included in the comparison.

Because it would be ridiculous, right? Well so is this.

You are being a bit unfair James with the similarities, for they also both have 4 letters in their surnames. Apart from that though there is no comparison and Jota is easily ten times better looking.

Jota’s his nickname, if I was being pedantic. Which people on here can be at times so I’ll take my turn. Ha!

  • Johnny Green says:

Is anyone watching the European Supercup just now. If Jota had been playing for THEM in the final instead of Kent, the lavvy lickers might have been competing in it.

  • Benjamin says:

To be completely fair, as far as Scottish wingers go Kent leads the league in neck tattoos per 90 minutes.

  • Paul Sweeney says:

Spot on with your assertion watched that dross last night as I watched the paint dry! Would not give Kent a game for the thornliebank stank lifters

  • MarkE says:

When on his best game, Kents decent; he’s quick, can beat a man and cause defences problems, though he’s not quite on the same level as Jota who has all of that and more.

A fairer comparison for Kent would be to someone like Mikey Johnston, though Kent does have a lot more experience and has a better end product with regards to teamwork.

How long has kentie been in scotland? Four years? A year short of morelos? Two duds, who can’t cut it. Two trophies between them in a backwater country. HH

  • Nick66 says:

Ryan Kant, bought for £7mil, the new found “player trading model”, means he’s worth more than the entire Celtic squad combined. We have much to fear.

  • Scud Missile says:

Ah wee Barry Hawkins brother of BIG BENNY from Crossroads (yes that f****** idiot) sniffing some serious strong SUPERGLUE with a statement like.
Either that or he has taken some serious white powder.

  • Jon Allon says:

Member when gerad was pumping up Kent and Connor for example if they were that good why did he no sign them for Aston villa it won’t be long until Steve does to villa that Brenda is doing at Leicester watch this space cause both of them will be out of a job and blaming someone else as usual

  • SSMPM says:

Ferguson is a village idiot, simply not worth listening to. Who the fck paid him for saying that or told him that his views are insightful. TWAT. I would say though that Ferguson and the Blob are similar, brainless bigots
