I take it you all read, with some amusement this morning, this latest nonsensical “list” of the top clubs in the world, which the one from Ibrox has gotten into the top ten of.

And we’re apparently not. Awww. How will we ever cope with such a snub?

Easily, actually, as defending champions and top of the league at the current time.

Honestly, I know the hacks love this dire rubbish and they get off on publishing these feel-good pieces, but really? The club across the city is in utter turmoil today, with the weekend shockwaves still reverberating, and they face imminent Champions League elimination.

For the hacks to be putting up this kind of stuff, to cheer people up … it looks more like trolling their supporters than it does trolling ours. Because we laugh at this stuff on days like this, when we’re sitting proudly atop the league table.

We treat it like a joke because a joke is what it is.

We are awaiting the Champions League draw this week. We are on the brink of bringing in another excellent player, to add to the list of fantastic options we already have in the team. This club is in better health than it’s been in for years.

They look like a disorganised rabble right now. The highlight of their transfer window was selling two key players, and they’re in chaos over the future of another one as I write this. I’ll do more on the Morelos thing later, but that’s got to be damaging.

This is what the press comes up with to distract from all the mayhem over there; a puny story like this, one that is only designed to remind them that we won the league last year and that we’re not looking like we’re going to relinquish our hold on it.

If you were in their shoes, would you be happy with a story like this?

Me neither. It is pathetic.
