Bitter Hack Fails To See There’s No Value In Being An Anti-Celtic Controversialists.

If you follow the news, you’ll know that a certain idiot hack was bumping his gums again this weekend and gleefully attacking the manager for the second time in seven days. The first time was on the radio where he accused the Celtic boss of arrogance. He then did the same in his crayon scribbled newspaper column. It was tiresome twaddle.

To be honest, I’ve written about as much as I intend to about this guy.

He’s not really worth any more our time, and I suspect I’ve given him rather too much of it. But for once he said something in his latest piece which was both insightful and honest.

He labelled himself a controversialist. And a shock-jock. He boasted on his “lobbing grenades” on radio for 40 years. I would take issue with much of his self-congratulations.

But it’s the closest he has ever come to admitting that what he does cannot properly be called journalist. He sees some value in rattling on the bars. He sees merit in winding people up and if that gets him a reputation as a bit of a clown he’s not that bothered.

Yet he’s failed to understand something.

Which is that there really isn’t any merit in what he thinks those people do.

Because nobody takes them seriously and they aren’t supposed to be taken seriously, and he longs to be taken seriously in spite of an IQ which sits below an average basketball score.

He thinks of himself as a real journalist, and he’s not and this craving for headlines and need to create controversy is one of the many reasons why he isn’t.

To be frank, the reason so many people fit this category is that it doesn’t require any degree of intellect or skill unless you’re one of the people who can do satire, which is an art form that this guy isn’t anywhere near being up to.

Any idiot can go on the radio and talk nonsense.

Any idiot can write uninformed dirge in a column, and you only have to look at those doing it in England right now on shows like TalkSport. People lurching from one rant to the next, making no sense along the way.

The one thing positive about it – if you can call it that – is that nobody holds you accountable for the nonsense that comes out of your mouth.

Only those who are treated with a degree of respect, and whose views are seen as having weight, ever pay a price for what they say. That nobody in the profession takes him to task any longer is the ultimate proof of what a nonentity he is.

It’s a hazard of his chosen profession. One he doesn’t seem to understand.
