Celtic Fans Are Getting Sick Of All This Forelock Tugging At Our Expense.

Ian Blackford is the head of the SNP at Westminster. There are one or two things on his plate right now, as there are for every elected MP and especially one who sits atop of a political party structure. We have the cost of living crisis, the fuel crisis – which will hit families like a hammer regardless of the “cap” – the climate crisis and a war in Ukraine.

That’s enough to be getting on with. You would think so anyway.

So it was good that Sky found the time this morning to ask him about the behaviour of fans. Especially Celtic fans.

And Blackford, who only had to say what many others have and say that the right to free expression is a protected one in this country, fell back on the same old tired garbage that he and too many people in Westminster have been slinging for a week.

Forelock tugging. Kissing the royal ring.

When actually, public opinion in Scotland is split right down the middle on whether there should even be a monarchy.

And lest he need reminding, that split just so happens to fall almost squarely down the line on whether you consider yourself a nationalist or a unionist.

It’s another example of someone who should know better trying to appease an unappeasable foe.

Celtic fans are getting a bit sick of this now.

For a week there it was something we knew we’d have to take on the chin because the body was still on public display like a Madame Tussauds waxwork.

It’s in the ground now.

She’s gone, and all of us have lives to lead and frankly better things to do.

But a small section of the media strata is obsessed with this issue and is grimly determined to get as many people to bow and scrape, even after she’s interred, as they possibly can in an effort to browbeat our club into doing the same.

It is absolutely pathetic and the sight of watching Blackford debase himself so as not to be seen to out of step with “the national mood” is appalling.

He ought to be deeply ashamed of the way he has spent this last fortnight propping up a sectarian, racist institution – the same one, by the way, which is part of what chains his country to England.

If he wants to self define as a royalist that’s his look-out.

But enough already of using our club as a punching bag. We will not forget it.

Hearts fans disrupting the minutes silence held 15 minutes after it was announced she’d passed away ?

Dundee United fans singing ‘ Lizzie’s in a box ‘ at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon ?

His fellow Hibernian fans singing ‘ lizzie’s in a box ‘ at Easter Road on Saturday afternoon ?

Blackford is one of the reasons why I no longer vote SNP. Sturgeon is another.

They are weasels and behave in just the same way that the Scottish Lords did when selling Scotland for their own benefit. Blackford and Sturgeon are wealthy and want to keep it that way. I wouldn’t trust either as far as I could throw them. They have their eyes on personal gain.

The SNP has lost its way and I cannot see it recovering, especially with muppets like Blackford there.

  • Pan says:

As a follow up, if excellent MP’s like Clive Lewis, the Labour MP for Norwich South, had become the Labour leader, we would be in a much better place. Labour has a number of good republican politicians which put most of the SNP at Westminster to shame.

In my opinion, Clive would have been an excellent leader for them, but the unionist forces are at work in the Labour Party as well, to prevent such as him being leader. The UK is on the road to fascism without the moderating influence of the European Union, which is a true union and not an enforced one.

    as pan said….
blackford is just another of a long list of the scots elite who would and did sell their soul to hold onto whatever they had…as they toadied and licked english arses…they are actually worse bastards than unionists…scots never learn do they?….deep down an awful lot of scots STILL bow and curtsy to the english – as they are treated like shit.
blackford’s address re the queens death was fuqn nauseating….

  • Scud Missile says:

Ah BENNY Blackford screams for independence and wants nothing to do with England but still puts his hand out for Queen’s pound oops sorry the King’s pound, what a PONCE.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Yes scud and nippy Nicky sturgeon stated that in an independent Scotland we will still have the king as our monarch in Scotland, some independence eh, WTF is that about.

      • 18871888 says:

After independence, Scotland can VOTE on whether we want independence. It’s certainly not going to happen from Westminster

  • Martin H. says:

It’s the Catholic votes that gets the s.n.pee voted in time to wake up.

  • JimBhoy says:

Maybe a means to an end. Most important thing is to get the YES vote over the line. This will allow Scottish politics to focus on Scottish issues and not be the English party branch office.

Blackford or Sturgeon’s lip service to the Royals may be political and if it turns a few hundred thousand votes to YES then fab.

SNP, Greens, Alba are that means to Scottish independence like the leaders or not. We need free of English/tory true before we can mould our own country on Fair Scottish values.

    • Jim Duffy says:

Fair Scottish values jimbhoy? You mean like bigotry , sectarianism, orange walks ,Fenian blood washing round their knees ,that kind of Scottish values, dream on mate.

  • Mr James A Burns says:

The SNP SHOULD KNOW BY NOW that the loyalists will never ever vote for them or for independence. They should be ignored.

  • Thomas mcgilp says:

Brilliant, and your right,we will continue to have people who want the freedom of expression, unless it’s conforms to the masses,Long live the right to free speech,?????

  • Bigmick says:

Blackford and his ilk are inciting hatred of us, and causing resentment in us for doing so.
History tells us that radical change,IndependenceMonarchy etc, is never gained without bloodshed.
Presumably Blackford, Souness, Whale are well aware of that fact.
Are they trying to incite and accelerate things to that end?
If so, may it be their blood that flows first.
    Despicable fucking idiots.

  • Gerry says:

Well said. Not hearing a lot about Dundee Utd, Hibs or Aberdeen getting as much flak as what we currently are.

  • Gerrard Duffin says:

    Queennicola

  • Jim Duffy says:

Seems you can’t slag of Scotland or the sno on this blog ,but hey we’ll get good old Scottish fairness once we gain indepence ,I think not.

  • Jim Duffy says:

    Should read SNP.

  • SFTB says:

Like every politician, Blackford is playing for votes. Every party had spokespeople out praising the Queen last week. The trap was set and that was the only response that got you out of the trap.

But Blackford went further and singled out the Celtic fans, just as Nicola did over the Winter training camp fiasco. It looks very much like the SNP think they already have the Celtic fan vote wrapped up and don’t need to work for it anymore. They will not alienate the Tartan Army by criticising them and they will not go after other clubs either because it believes the Scottish Orthodoxy- “sectarianism”- that ill-defined term is just a W.o.S. problem- it’s that Ulster thing and good Scots have nothing to do with it.

Criticising the Ibrox club means they won’t garner the waverers who are not diehard Queen & Country fascists, but Celtic are a safe target because we have largely been bought and sold by the SNP and that’s not gonna change anytime soon.

This is not a Blackford problem. Any SNP spokesman would have said the same. And so, unfortunately would most Labour and LD politicians. I won’t reference the other major party because you can’t educate them.

  • Ian McGuigan says:

Very disappointed in Blackford. All to please Kay Burley and get an easy time of it. Thought he was better than that.
