Oh boy. Just when we all thought it was going to be a slow news day.

John Bennett, the Ibrox director you’ve probably never heard of, has given an “in house interview” today with their club media in which he has promised to “build bridges” with the club’s supporters after the last few months which have simply been one disaster piled on top of another.

But he’s also said a few other things too, and one is even funnier than the idea that he and his fellow directors can make everything in the garden rosy over there again.

He’s actually gone on the record and boasted that after the summer their squad is better than ours.

This claim is so risible that even the bulk of their own supporters don’t agree with it.

Even the most casual look at the squads – and a good way to do it is to see who each side can put on the bench week in week out – shows you who has the better one.

I understand that these guys are desperate to get their fan-base back on board due to recent criticism, the hovering Dave King and continued rumours that everyone in the directors box is looking to bow out and cash in their chips … but honestly, these guys need to get real as much as anything else and talk straight to their supporters.

The players Bennett is boasting about having signed in the summer window are, for the most part, contributing nothing whatsoever.

They have lost three key members of their team – all Nigerian internationals – and the guys they have brought in have hardly been seen.

They don’t have a right sided midfielder.

They don’t have cover at right back.

They have one reliable striker with the others either permanently injured, not good enough or untrustworthy.

They’ve been playing James Sands at central defence whilst an expensive signing in that area watches from the bench.

They are kidding themselves, but nobody else. Not even their own fans.

The most gullible supporters in the country are at Ibrox, and even they aren’t going to swallow this one.

He obviously timed that very well, after the gap had been reduced to two points. However who care what he says, it will all come out in the wash.

A couple of weeks ago their own fans were commenting on how good our team was after our duel with Real Madrid a few days after easily beating them; they’re a confused bunch

No doubt Jackson from the Record will have a nice opinion piece soon ,about how glossy and shiny and such a well oiled machine the Rangers have become ! Isn’t it time a scoop reporter made his/her mark and questioned Bennett directly ,about litigation fines and compensation payments to a multitude of organisations ? That person is out there !Go be a devil !!!

  • Hans says:

An utterly ridiculous claim. Our squad is not just stronger, it’s far stronger. We’ll win the title this year by a minimum 15 points. That’ll prove who has the stronger squad!

  • Effarr says:

After Sunday’s fiasco I wouldn’t boast too much until we see the response against Motherwell at the very least.

Quite frankly, some from the bench disappointed me and the bench seems to be the right position for them.

Sevco and the truth haven’t really ever got along

  • MAGUA says:

John Bennett? He sounds more like Gordon Bennett to me.

    Hail Hail.

  • Frankie says:

Wonder when they will come out with their yearly finances will it be an undisclosed amount.
