Kenny Miller And The Continuing Ryan Kent Delusion.

Yesterday, even if the rest of the Celtic team had been below par – which they weren’t at all – the two men we had on the wing might very well have won it on their own.

Jota and Abada were absolutely sensational, and thoroughly dismantled the Ibrox side.

Writing after the game, Kenny Miller had to acknowledge that fact.

It was when he turned to the subject of Ryan Kent – a subject which now routinely causes embarrassment amongst the Scottish football commentariat – that it all went a bit mental.

Kent is a wonder of the world as far as I’m concerned.

He reminds me a lot of modern art.

I don’t get modern art.

I think to get it you have to want to.

If you are looking at myriad vivid colours and associate them with danger or anger or joy then you’ll see what you want to see in splodges and doodles and all the rest of it.

If you want to see a footballer in Kent, you can point to a handful of things he does over the course of a couple of games and get validation if, at the same time, you’re willing to overlook all the errors and moments where he just looks completely useless.

I don’t see anything in random patterns of colour that impresses me half as much as standing in front of a nice watercolour.

And I watch football from every corner of the world and I can say with absolute conviction that Ryan Kent is a two-bob player who would last a week at Celtic Park before the coaches sent him out somewhere on loan and slapped a modest release clause into the deal, praying that it would be activated.

I don’t know how they maintain the illusion that there is a player in there somewhere.

Kent doesn’t resemble a top class footballer half as much as he does a guy who simply got lucky that he could play at any level at all; as someone said to me recently, in another world there is a version of Ryan Kent who hangs around outside McDonalds trying to pick girls up.

I’ve always thought that there were was something vaguely creepy about him.

He has the kind of face you expect to see when you switch on Netflix.

Be honest, if you had never seen him before and that is what popped up at you under the headline The Trailer Park Serial Killer you would shudder and think “he even looks like a scumbag.”

As Kevin Bridges once said, about someone else entirely, “That should have been the court case … “you’ve done something mate, look at you … get to the jail.””

But for Kenny Miller not only is there a footballer in there, but one who has more than Jota or Abada does!

It is incredible that after watching those two absolutely take the Ibrox club apart, and comparing the way they played both last season and since this one kicked off with his puny statistics that somehow Ibrox has the better footballer on its hands.

This is what he wrote about them.

“At the moment, Jota is a better player than Kent. There’s no getting away from it. By the way, Liel Abada might now be better than Kent as well, in terms of his output for Celtic. Technically, Kent might have more in his locker. But in terms of a hunger for goals and how direct and sharp he is in front of goal, Abada is proving he’s ahead of him.”

At the moment?

At what “moment” has Kent been anything but a shadow of this guy? Jota is a better player at this moment, and at every moment since he arrived in Scotland and at every moment before that.

It is not a stretch to suggest that in every moment he remains here and in every moment that he plays the game until his retirement that he will be a better player than Kent.

And Abada might be better as well?

I think you can take that one to the bank, because he now specialises in hitting the back of the net against them whilst Kent has only specialised in hitting Scott Brown.

Once, which is all he’d get away with.

Technically he has more in the locker?

Christ almighty, what a ridiculous statement to make.

If he does have something in the locker more than we’ve seen it must be buried in there deep underneath all the How To Kill Your Neighbours And Dissolve Their Bodies In Battery Acid manuals.

There are some subjects about which there really ought not to be any further discussion, because they are every bit as one-sided as that beating we handed out to them yesterday.

On whether Kent should even be mentioned in the same breath as Jota and Abada, surely that one has now run its course and been rendered redundant.

Still, Kent’s defenders continue trying to convince us that there is something lurking within, and maybe there is.

But I know I’d feel more confident seeing him playing this team of ours than I would be if he moved in next door to me.

I’d be doing more than just locking my windows at night.

Lol. I thought it was only me. Leaving the football aside he looks like the kind of cunt who hangs about lassies with his hands in his pockets stroking his cock.

As for Kenny Miller, he’s as thick as shite in the neck of a bottle.

  • Scud Missile says:

This is why sevco are in the state they are in with duff players praised to the hilt when they are basic nickel&dime players.
Water and flour (doughballs) men like BENNY Miller who continue to spin lies about how good the sevco players are, that they are better quality than Celtic players this plays right into the THICKOS that follow the Khan klub as Miller is preaching to the fans what was passed on to him to get the message out there from the board at Ibrox.

  • Lubo's Boots says:

James, like most of us I have some Old Firm FC supporting friends and colleagues, and let me tell you they aren’t impressed with Kent and haven’t been for some time.
Why the blue brigade in the media keep pumping him up I have no idea. Kent has the occasional moment of “crowd pleaser” in him, but the important end product is the square root of zero.
Conversely, Jota and Abada are setting up and scoring goals on a regular basis. Call me old fashioned – but thats what I call “crowd pleasing” !! The debate is a non starter and the fools on telly should button it immediately. Kent is a flop, and has been for some time. Any comparison to Jota and Abata isn’t just laughable, it should be dismissed on the spot.

  • harold shand says:

Kent and Goldson seem to be totally immune from criticism from the Scottish media

Even though we know they’re really not that great and the huns themselves are on their backs

  • Frankie says:

Does sunken eyes not mean jonahs locker at the BOTTOM of the ocean.

  • Martin H. says:

And nobody has even mentioned, that Abada isn’t even our first choice every week, although before the game yesterday, and with the hounding, he normally gives them, it was the obvious pick.

  • Benjamin says:

Kent was reasonably decent his first season, but has gotten continually worse over time. For players in their 30’s one can usually attribute that sort of decline to age. For Kent at his age… it’s baffling. He’s had 3 goals in all competitions in the last 12 months, the most recent of which was on Saint Patrick’s Day. He gets a fair number of assists, but so would any winger playing on that team against SPFL opposition just based on the number of goals their team scores. If only they gave out awards for neck tattoos he might win something.

  • SSMPM says:

Spot on Scud. I’ve listened to many a Celtic fan talk favourably about Miller but he is an arse-piece, sorry voice-piece for hunery and skulldugery, managing to stay just below the line of complete hun commentary for the dollar. A mug whose cup overflows somehow.
Kent’s name speaks to who he is. I think Miller sees a bit of himself in him and mibbies that’s why he rates him. Miller was strong and fast over short distances and with a burst of initial pace but just like Kent a finisher, na. You just have to look at the distance and pace K.nt had to cover to get that illegal tackle on Abada in their box yesterday. The definite penalty give away tackle that was not even raised in Sportscene. Surprised? No mention of a Sands retrospective sending off for last week either. Funny that. Not. If it was against them there’d be holy f.cks flying everywhere and Fenian conspiracies raised all week or weeks. None of that necessary cause we smashed so fair and square they’re blaming their own team for not turning up.
I remember a CL night on a snowy/hailstone evening in Copenhagen. We lost 3-0 (unbelievably we got into the last 16 nonetheless) but Miller broke away about 5 times and missed everyone of them. The Shamrock bar in Copenhagen city centre was awash with anti Miller songs and fortunately the board listened and got rid of him asap. I can’t say Miller left a positive impressionable mark on Scottish football or Celtic though we did make money from his sale. I can’t see them getting any money for this no-mark k.nt

  • Justshatered says:

Tony Ralston scored more goals, and had more assists, than Kent last year.
Oh and Ralston is a defender who played in the meanest defence in the league.
    Enough said.
    Delusion is their default setting.

  • Tony B says:

Best remembered for his lift off upside down and the beelin look on his stupid hun face when he landed.

  • Garry Cowan says:

Kent is the best goth footballer in Scotland by a mile so at least he has that

  • Seppington says:

I’m sure I heard Michael Stewart say the same thing, “Kent is a better technical footballer but doesn’t have the end product of Abada…” or some such pish. And pish it is utterly, for no end product = no good footballer. We’ve all seen those exhibitionist guys that are amazing record-breakers at keepie-uppie…how many of them are actual pro players? You can keep it off the deck for a week but if all your passes go astray or your shots all fly 20 feet over the bar you’re actually pretty useless.
Complete garbage, Miller is understandably and admittedly biased, so no surprise that he worships the wee ned. I expected better of Stewart but I suppose he’s towing the Sevconian line with the rest of the Beeb…

  • Stephen Buchan says:

I dont get the hero worshipping of Kent. He doesn’t score goals has few assists and disappears when the going gets tough. Has done absolutely nothing in his time at The Rangers.
So desperate to have a superstar at Ibrox.

  • Mick Lyons says:

Kent or Jota its no hard

  • Mike McGowan says:

The ability of a Sevco player can easily be determined by who wants to buy them ( they need to sell as they are skint). Any good and they go… e.g. Aribo, Patterson. No buyers for Kent, Morelos et al… says it all!

  • Bob L says:

Seriously, James, have you been on the sauce tonight? I normally read your articles but to suggest what any person’s character is, based on their looks, well thought you knew better. Agree, he is overhyped, but think you let yourself down in this piece, mate

    • Johnny Green says:

My thoughts exactly, cheap immature shots do him no credit.

    • Gordon Ashley says:

Guys character didn’t look up to much for me when he was pointing an imaginary gun at his head and pointing at Celtic fans, or acting hard in front of the sevco fans with Scott brown, not to mention his constant diving. In fact he probably is the trailor park killer.

      • Johnny Green says:

Since the huns are the trailer trash of a dead empire, then I do see the connection in that regards. 🙂

  • John Lynaghan says:

Some so called pundits and football experts keep ranting about Rangers players even when they were totally destroyed by Celtic yesterday. The real facts are that none of the current rangers squad would get in to the Celtic team.We have heard all these stories about how good Ryan Kent and Morelos are but the real fact is they are pretty average players in a good day.Rangers are a team full of journeymen nothing special .Kenny Millar Barry Ferguson and Kris Boyd need to come into the real world and stop spouting rubbish .Give credit to Ange and his team

  • Gordon Ashley says:

Must say I’ve disagreed with a lot you’ve said on here but that was f*cking hilarious ! The trailor park killer hahaha.. wit a weekend !

  • Gordon Ashley says:

He looks like someone I would definitely run away from if I seen him walking into an American high school carrying a large hold-all!

  • SFATHENADIROFCHIFTINESS says:

It’s obvious that the Tribute Act got stung when they bought him from Liverpool.
Think it was £7M the papers say and every window since they’ve been trying, hard ,very hard to sell him on before they had to pay another tranche of the transfer fee.
To do that the blue-tinted Churnalists of the West of Scotland press have been toe-ing the Ibrox line and plumping him up , like the turkey he is, for the festive sales. All the fake paper talk of clubs being interested, testing the water, preparing a bid, multi-million bids incoming only served to lull the deluded. Just as with More-or-Less since he landed on these shores.
As the final year of their contracts loomed the desperation to move them on only intensified. El Buffalo was lucky that over the piece in that his smart agent was able to squeeze more money out of Sevco, ‘ Well Mr Robertson if you value him as a 20/30 Million player maybe you should start paying him as one’. The die was cast and El Gordo believing his own hype acted accordingly. Kent has got nothing going for him and will be extremely lucky if he gets a new contract at the DebtDome or is able to sign a decent pre- contract with another club.
He’ll most likely drift out of the game and possibly take up his right-full position outside McDonalds.
