St Mirren Take The Sensible Approach For Their Celtic Game “Tribute”.

Wonders will never cease.

There is sanity in the land after all, and it comes from a fellow Scottish club.

St Mirren have today decided that they will hold a minute’s applause for the dead monarch instead of a minute’s silence. There will be no moribund atmosphere, no anthem playing in the background, no display of uber-staunch.

I still expect that the media and our enemies will find something to moan about. It was ever thus. I also expect that the Usual Suspects amongst our support will find something to rage at the Green Brigade for. What these people fail to grasp is that those who hate Celtic don’t need an excuse to do so, and they would invent them if none were available.

The forums of Ibrox will go apoplectic as a result of this announcement and they will pour their hatred onto ourselves and the home club with equal vitriol. That’s okay. As you’ll have seen from this morning’s piece, it’s all these folk know how to do.

This national farce is almost over.

Once she’s in the ground we can dispense with all of the nonsense that has filled the last seven days, and the world will move on.

Unless, of course, there is some national campaign to have the anniversary turned into an annual display of grotesque right-wing drum banging in the way the whole poppy debacle is.

I would not rule that out. If the Daily Mail and those other right-wing rags had their way, we would have another month of this. They are probably planning for their Day For Boris as well.

But for the most part, come Monday this will all be old news.

The important thing is that Celtic still has its five point lead at the top of the SPFL.

That’s what matters here, and it’s all that’s ever mattered.

Well done to St Mirren though for not giving in to the mob.
