The Ibrox Club Gets Its Game Put Back 24 Hours With A Colossal Impact On Fans.

You have to hand it to the club from Ibrox; their utter contempt for their own supporters is just as heavy as their contempt for rival fans.

Today’s news that they have managed to get their Champions League game moved 24 hours from Tuesday to Wednesday is bad enough; that massively disenfranchises not only their own fans but those of Napoli.

What’s worse, though, is that because Italian fans won’t be at Ibrox – on two days’ notice, it’s a disgrace – UEFA has banned their fans from the stadium over there.

So if you’re an Italian who booked for this game or an Ibrox fan who booked for the return, then too bad and so sad. The club’s initial attempt to have the game postponed entirely, which is what opened this can of worms, has backfired spectacularly.

The club’s terse, dry statement promises refunds for their fans who can’t attend on Wednesday but says nothing about those who were going to Italy. On top of that, they are going to sell the tickets that the Napoli fans would have taken up.

Games all across the country will be back on from Tuesday onwards.

The English leagues will have a full card. There is no excuse for a single additional fixture to be moved or called off, but we’ll see if that holds. The weekend’s games should have happened and the coming weekend’s games definitely should, but we’ll see if that’s the case or not.

In the meantime, the Ibrox’s club’s efforts to seem like the “staunchest” club in the country has resulted in a calamitous screwing of their own supporters – many of whom are fuming at the two pronged shafting they’ve had here – and the Napoli fans alike.

Police Scotland claim that this is an operational matter due to policing numbers.

That sounds like cobblers, as will be ably demonstrated by the number of games which are happening in England over the next week, including in Central London.

This was Ibrox, initially trying to get out of playing the game and finally forced to accept a compromise that they probably didn’t even want. That is the price they pay for playing their wee games.

Now they face the match they never wanted in the circumstances that piss off their own fans and assure that it’ll be three heavy defeats on the bounce.
