The Five Way Agreement And Why Lawwell Must Not Be Celtic’s Next Chairman.

|

What Is The Five Way Agreement?

The Five Way Agreement is the document which was written with the purpose of binding Sevco to the sins of Rangers.

It is the document that let the club into the Scottish football structure, a set of regulations that all the respective parties had to be bound to.

Its signatories are the SPL, the SPFL, the SFA, Sevco and Rangers.

The signatories on behalf of Rangers were their administrators Duff and Phelps.

The point behind it was that it allowed Sevco to pretend to be Rangers, keeping the history and the name and all that other stuff which they claim makes them a direct continuation of that club.

It is, as I’ve said, the document that props the Survival Lie up.

The public perception at the time was that it was created by the SFA as the price Sevco had to pay for pretending to be a dead club, but I have always believed it was an idea that sprung from somewhere else, that and the weakness of the governing bodies themselves.

To understand that we have to go back to the period before it was signed.

In the original Five Way Agreement, Sevco was supposed to admit to liability for the EBT years and lose trophies as a consequence.

But in that agreement, they were also supposed to go straight into the SPL.

When the clubs of the SPL voted against that Charles Green tore the original up and everyone went back to the drawing board.

Think on what had happened during the debate over the SPL vote, and then in its aftermath as the SFA tried to secure Sevco a berth in the second tier. Stewart Regan talked about “Armageddon” and “civil disorder.”

He made it clear that he saw Sevco as a continuation of Rangers and as a club that was “too big to fail.”

And in dealing with Green, they were dealing with a man with no scruples, a man who was perfectly willing to take advantage of that sentiment.

It was around that time he started talking about taking the club outside of Scottish football, ramping up the pressure on the SFA to consider the abyss.

They blinked. That’s what happened here.

You have left us hanging without any answers your blaming PL but your not saying what he’s done So this is typical of you another none story in other words a load of shit

    • Johnny Green says:

Have patience, the article is obviously going to follow soon, so don’t get your knickers in a twist.

    • codmat says:

Open your eyes Kevin, there’s a ‘next’ tab at the bottom of the page that takes you to the next page of 6 or 7 in total.

  • John Copeland says:

Why has it taken so long to come to this ? All of the rancour , the antagonism , the hostility towards the 5WA ,and we still don’t know the exact facts to the damned thing ! I for one am tired and sick of waiting .Questions should be vigorously asked and answers should be vigorously questioned ! Toot Sweet !

  • Bob (original) says:

Even if you ignored his AGM ‘claim’ not to have seen the 5WA,
appointing PL to the Board would be a step backwards.

Regardless of what you think of him – good or bad – he was the CEO for 18 years.
That is way too long for any CEO.

If he was to become Chairman, the chances are he would stay long term again.

Also, we all witnessed how much influence Lawwell had as CEO.
As Chairman he may not have operational responsibilities, but he doesn’t come across as the type of character who would leave the CEO to get on, without undue interference?

    Lawwell has had his time.
A return to the CFC board could send out all the wrong signals to the support,
and just when the club seems to be making significant progress on and off the pitch.

  • John A says:

Lawwell proved he is a liar, he can’t be allowed to run our club. How could you believe a word he said?

  • John Mcmullen says:

Sure he said he never saw the 5 way agreement documents, but it was shown they were sent to his email account. Maybe they went to his spam folder, but someone from celtic would need to sign off on this spl/sfa/ rangers/ sevco/ cover up.

  • peter cassidy says:

iewell l has never left celtic and if Desmond wants him as chairman then he will be chairman.

    • Auldheid says:

DD would have to be brain dead to want back a CEO who simply could not Chair an AGM where nothing he says will be trusted.

It would be biggest football own goal since Brian Clough appointed manager of Leeds.

  • Mrdanielhughes says:

Need to read more about it

  • Peterbrady says:

If it happens Cassidy you can sit in a empty paradise because it will be a total 100% boycott no season tickets no merchandise nothing no Ange we will be like the empty poisonous vessel at the auld hoor

  • Geoff says:

I have said it so many times that if Lawwell returns in any capacity then the starting gun is fired for Ange leaving.
Have no doubt that Lawwell will need to be the puppet master once again.
Dark days ahead if he is ever announced.

  • Joe Mullaney says:

If PL lied to share holders at an AGM, then that is a very serious matter for a senior officer of the company. Would he take such a risk?

  • Murphy says:

If the shoe was on the other foot, they would buried us!! Lawell should be nowhere near our Club. As for the corruption that is in the corridors of power, will it ever change? No level playing field! One club dies! Reincarnates as the same team, ??? as they would have us all believe. Never let this issue die, unlike a member club. Truth and justice has to be seen to be done without fear or favour. Otherwise it’s a pointless exercise.

  • Jack says:

Sevco is a tribute act. No 150 years of history and no 55 league titles.
