Last week, Michael Stewart sat in the BBC Sport Scotland studio and tied himself in knots trying to justify us not getting that penalty kick. He talked absolute rot. It was a stonewall decision, as easy a call as an official should ever have to make. Who said? Numerous officials from Steve Conroy to Dermot Gallagher, who famously suggested that in the EPL it’s a certainty.
I was willing to overlook Stewart’s inane remarks. They were illogical nonsense, but I was willing to look past them. They were a one-off, surely? And even accounting for a little pro-Hearts bias in how he looked at it, you can say “a man can make a mistake.”
Tonight he’s arguing against the penalty we got today. And Kenny Miller, with no pretence of objectivity whatsoever, is looking for holes in the goals we scored, and thinks that the second shouldn’t count. This is BBC Scotland at its best right now, sucking up to Ibrox and giving Celtic the shit end of the stick. There are more ex-Ibrox players working there than from almost any other background, and I include journalism.
Stewart spent a while in purgatory, and when you have to watch cretins like Ricky Foster sitting on the sofa instead of you, I can understand why that might sting a bit. But what a price to have to pay to get back on the telly; lobotomised and your balls kept in a plastic box.
I hope he thinks it was worth it. The rest of us are watching aghast. He has been well and truly brought to heel by his bosses who have their tongues so far up the Ibrox posterior that they can taste toothpaste. These are bad times for anyone who works up there and who cares about doing the job right. They have been hung out to dry.

5.5 seconds was mentioned as the reason for the offside being valid Brian. Something to do with phase of play. In other words clutching at straws.
Watching Sportscene is now a chore. Why must “pundits”, I use term loosely, be so blatantly biased in their analysis of a game of football. Everyone knows that the Sevconians are crap and play 1 or 2 good games in 7. Just do the job. What purpose dose it serve to argue against obvious decisions based on the rules of the game. Celtic will win, loose or draw playing our style, being the best in Scotland and against the odds, re- fair play. That in itself should sicken Auntie and the Ibrox lackeys they employ.
I listened in disbelief tonight at what Stewart said about the penalty. He was talking total p*sh about ams being in a natural position. Nobody I know runs naturally on a pitch with their hands up at their face.As for the offside at the second goal, it is not an offence to be in an offside position only if you become active and as far as I could see that never happened. I expected nothing else from Miller who just can’t help himself as he is one dyed in the wool h*n but Stewart ought to go away and have a look in the mirror. Used to enjoy his comments on games but he has obviously sold his soul to the dark side to keep his job

He has previously paid a high price for his objectivity/ honesty ,as a pundit….

The score was 0-2 when we got that penalty. It did not make any difference, these officials are just fed up with the fact that it is now regularly mentioned that we have never had a penalty since last April.
Don’t think myself Michael Stewarts bein ‘anti Celtic’ thats just pish imo. Because he’s given the thumbs down twice in a row for pen claims by us, disnae make him biased against us. Definitely think tho, his failin is that he’s biased when it comes tae hearts and that was the reason for his ludicrous opinion on our pen claim last week. Far as today’s goes, spoken tae a few Celtic fans like myself, who thought today’s could be judged as a bit harsh. Wisnae near as clear as last weeks.
I tend to agree Kevan – technically under the new interpretations etc it was probably a penalty but I wouldn’t have felt agrieved if Collum hadn’t given it. Last week’s was clear-cut and how it wasn’t given/referred by VAR is what should concern us Celtic fans far more.

Watched Sportscene last night and the dodgy penalty the Rangers were awarded against Aberdeen wasn’t even shown far less analysed. It might be argued that this was because the penalty was missed and therefore didn’t affect the result. Imagine my surprise therefore when Celtic’s missed penalty against Livingston was not only shown but also analysed with both pundits saying it shouldn’t have been a penalty. It is clear that Sportscene now don’t even bother to disguise their pro Rangers bias

Let’s look at this dispassionately.
1) 2nd goal. Kyogo was in an offside position when the ball was played in from the right but the ball doesn’t reach him. The defender covering Kyogo knocks it back out and GT lashes it home. So at what point was Kyogo offside and why? Hopefully the DR will have Dermot Gallacher on this because I genuinely don’t know if you could argue that Kyogo was interfering with play because he forced the Livingston player to clear the ball.
2) Penalty. Again, ask the expert. What Michael Stewart is saying is that he doesn’t think these handballs should be penalties. Neither do I. Even though I believe (using current interpretations) that the one v Hearts was a stonewaller, I don’t THINK it should be a penalty as it’s not deliberate handball. Credit to Collum for taking a second look which is more than can be said about that clown from last week. That’s the end of story. The VAR people thought it was a pen and Collum thought it was a pen. These ones will work against us and I don’t like it but those are the rules.
Wait till Michael Stewart has to make a close handball call from a huns match. Then we will know for sure if he drank the hun Kool Aid.
Just checked the DR. Stewart said that a pen the huns got wasn’t a penalty (handball). I am keen to see what happens when one goes for them or against them in a close game.
Ah honestly think he does try and use an impartial, level head, although unfortunately, it doesn’t extend tae hearts games imo. Let’s himself doon there at times. To be fair, it was a hard decision to give the penalty in the circumstances, however one wonders if it would have been given at 0-0.
Check out Sevco’s first goal on Saturday, Colak is clearly offside when the pass is played through to Tillman, no mention of this by the BBC panel yet they could see Kyogo was in an offside position. ??
