Taylor Being Fit Would Give Celtic A Huge Ibrox Lift. Who Thought That Possible?

If, before the Ibrox game last season, people would have said that Celtic’s position would be greatly enhanced if Greg Taylor was fit you might have been forgiven for thinking that something must have gone badly, badly wrong at Parkhead for that to be good news.

Yet here we are, and nothing whatsoever is wrong.

It’s just that Taylor has become a better player, almost a different player, under this manager and at last we can see the complete picture. Signing this guy was, after all, a very good piece of business.

But it’s taken time for that fact to present itself, and we’d be as well not pretending otherwise. Taylor has developed into that player one small step at a time, to the extent that many of us did not notice the improvement until it was too obvious to overlook.

Without a doubt though, this has been ongoing since Ange walked through the door.

Taylor and Ralston have been benefited mightily from having the manager being around, and I think when these two look back in years to come they will see the boss as the biggest, and most positive, influence in their careers.

Taylor made Nicholas’ team of the year.

I think he would make most folk’s team of the year. He may even find himself a candidate for one of the player of the year awards when the campaign ends; that’s how good he has been.

It’s not just that he has become a better defender; he is a better all-round player. He works hard. He defends well. He gets up the pitch and he can put a mean cross into the box. This is a Greg Taylor we never thought we would see, even those who argued that the only thing he’d done wrong until recently was not to be called Kieran Tierney.

Let’s all hope that Taylor is fit for us.

Because he has become an integral part of what Ange is trying to do here. He has been excellent in this campaign, and to lose him for such a crucial game would be a very big blow to us indeed.
